Principal's Message Principal's Message

Title 1 & PTO meeting:

I hope to see many of you Tuesday, September 9 at 7 p.m. for our Title 1 and PTA meeting. We will meet in the Library. Please come through the cafeteria doors.

Staying in the Game Matters!
Just like athletes and teammates depend on one another, our school team depends on every student being present and ready to learn each day. Attendance is one of the most important ways students can “stay in the game” for success. When students miss school—or even come in late—they miss valuable learning time, classroom routines, and opportunities to connect with their classmates.

On-Time Arrival
The first bell rings at 7:55 a.m., and the tardy bell rings at 8:05 a.m.. Please help your child build strong habits by arriving on time each morning. Being on time sets the tone for the entire day, allowing students to start focused, confident, and ready to learn.

Why Attendance Matters

  • Students who attend regularly are more likely to achieve academic success.

  • Good attendance builds responsibility and shows commitment.

  • Being on time helps create a calm, positive start to the day.

Together, we can help every child “stay in the game” by making attendance and punctuality a priority. Take the pledge now to stay in the game at Chapelfield: https://stayinthegame.org/pledge/! Thank you for teaming up with us to make every school day count!

Have a great weekend.

Dear Families,

Do your part in ensuring you get to school on time and ready to learn! If you haven't done so already, take the pledge!

Sincerely,

Sharon Suriano and Joe Jasinski

MAP Testing MAP Testing

MAP Testing has begun and will continue through Tuesday, Sept. 9th. Each 2nd through 5th grader takes assessments in reading and math. These assessments help us better understand each student’s learning needs.

Absence Reporting Absence Reporting

As a result of House Bill 410, student attendance is calculated in hours. This includes absences that have been identified as both excused and unexcused by the school, as well as planned absences. Being late or tardy to school does calculate into the total hours absent.

Medical excuses from a doctor can be submitted to Emily McFadden, our school secretary, through email (mcfaddene@gjps.org) or sending in a paper copy.

If your child is going to be absent from school, please email Ms. McFadden at mcfaddene@gjps.org AND email your student's teacher. Or, you may call to notify the school office attendance line at 614-478-5580 prior to 8:00 a.m.

Start With Hello Week!

Goshen Lane Families -

We are so excited to announce that Gahanna-Jefferson Elementary schools will be participating in "Start with Hello" week, an incredible initiative sponsored by Sandy Hook Promise, from September 15 - 19th.

"Start with Hello" is designed to teach students to reach out to and include those who may be showing signs of social isolation. The simple act of saying "hello" can have a profound impact, helping to break down social barriers and create a more inclusive and welcoming school community.

To help kick off each day and make sure every student feels seen and connected, we are looking for friendly volunteers to help us greet students as they enter the building each morning. This is a simple but powerful way to make a big difference!

Here are the details for the volunteer role:

  • What: Greet students with enthusiasm, smile, high fives, fist bumps and a simple "hello."

  • When: 9/15-9/19

  • Time Commitment: We are looking for volunteers to help for a brief window each morning from 7:40am - 8:10am

If you would like to lend a hand and help us create a culture of kindness in our schools, please sign up by visiting SWH Morning Greeter Sign up

Your time and positive energy will help ensure that every student feels welcome and valued.

Thank you so much for your support!

Fee Payments through Infinite Campus Fee Payments through Infinite Campus

Dear Gahanna-Jefferson Families,

We want to inform you of an important update regarding the Infinite Campus Payment Portal. Infinite Campus transitioned to “Stripe” as its new merchant service provider. This change affects how online payments are processed for food service accounts and student fees (including instructional, athletic and technology fees).

For the 2025-26 school year, each family will need to update their payment information and re-enter any recurring payments, as your previous data will not carry over from last year.

1. Add Payment Method(s)

Payment methods are used for both food service and school fees. Your current payment information will not be transferred. For security reasons, you must manually re-enter your payment methods.

You can add:

  • Credit/debit cards

  • Bank accounts

    • To validate bank accounts:

      • Automatic Validation: Log into your bank to confirm.

      • Manual Validation: A 24-48 hour delay for confirmation.

Steps to Add a Payment Method:

  1. Go to "Food Service" in the Infinite Campus menu.

  2. Click on "My Accounts."

  3. Select the "Payment Methods" box.

  4. Click the blue "New" button, enter your info, and hit "Save."

2. Re-establish Recurring Food Service Payments

Recurring payments will not carry over for security reasons. You must reconfigure them using your newly established payment method.

Steps to Set Up Recurring Payments:

  1. Click on "Food Service" in the Infinite Campus menu.

  2. Select "My Accounts."

  3. Click the "Recurring Payments" box.

  4. Under "Food Service," click "View."

  5. Set your frequency, amount and payment method.

  6. Click "Save."

For more detailed instructions, including screenshots, please see the attached document. There are no other changes to the way you experience online payments.

We appreciate your attention to this important update. If you have any questions or need help, please fill out the Infinite Campus Help Form.
