  • Director Gettys noted that the Committee discussed upcoming priorities for the 2026–2027 school year. The District’s annual independent audit is expected to begin in September and will serve as the next major financial review process. In the meantime, the Committee anticipates reviewing several additional financial matters, including insurance renewals and other budget-related topics. A list of priorities will be developed and addressed throughout the year as part of the Committee’s ongoing work.

Cocurricular – President Rice

  • President Rice noted the Committee recognized the many successes of West York athletic programs during the spring season. Track and field, tennis, boys volleyball, and girls softball all had outstanding seasons, with several individual accomplishments highlighted. Notable achievements included Maddie McGlynn recording her 400th career strikeout, Kevin Vu finishing the tennis season undefeated in singles competition, and multiple school records being broken in track and field.

  • The Committee also discussed preparations related to the athletic fields construction project. Athletic Director Brandon Fuhrman and Facilities Director Brock Asper are developing communication materials to help families and community members navigate facility changes and understand how athletic events and field usage may be impacted during construction.
  • Additionally, work is underway to establish more consistent and unified branding for West York athletics, including logos and colors. This will be a multi-phase process that is currently in its early stages.
  • The Committee is exploring dates for its next meeting, potentially in August, pending scheduling availability.
  • Summer sports physicals were offered on May 13, with an additional opportunity scheduled for July 23 from 6:00–8:00 p.m. at West York Area High School.
  • The next meeting will be September 15, 2026.

Communication and Engagement Committee (CEC) – Director Shah

  • Director Shah noted that the Committee continues to support ongoing discussions related to district branding, including the consistent use of West York colors, logos, and visual identity. As a result of those discussions, next year’s member district tuition increase is expected to be less than the average county index. The Board is also working to develop and implement a policy related to these matters. Additional discussions focused on governance issues, as well as Dr. Rogers’ salary and the overall YCST budget.

The Academy was commended for its work in supporting students who benefit from an alternative educational setting and for the positive outcomes being achieved.

  • The Board also discussed a projected budget deficit at YAA. A proposal to increase member district costs by approximately $200 per student seat was introduced but tabled until a later meeting. The matter is expected to be revisited in August after member districts complete their local budget processes.
Lincoln Intermediate Unit (LIU) Board and York/LIU Joint Authority – Director Gettys
  • Director Gettys reported that the Board received notification from Northeastern School District of its interest in withdrawing from the Authority. The withdrawal process will require action and approval from the member districts, including West York, and additional discussions and planning will take place between now and September to address the implications of the request.
