Dear Students, Families, and Guardians,

I hope you all have had a nice week. It was great to see so many families attend last night's Open House. If you were unable to come or a staff member was not available, you can always reach out to them for more information regarding their class.

We have a busy week ahead so please see the announcements below. As always, please reach out with any questions or concerns.

25th Anniversary - 9/11 Rememberance 25th Anniversary - 9/11 Rememberance

Tomorrow at 8:46 AM, YHS will take a brief pause for a special announcement and a moment of silence to mark 25 years since September 11.

Even though our students weren't around in 2001, 9/11 remains a major defining moment in our country's history. Tomorrow morning, we'll take time to honor those who were lost, pay tribute to the incredible heroism of first responders, and talk about the importance of unity and community service today. We encourage families to use this milestone as an opportunity to discuss the lasting impact of September 11 and what it means to serve and support one another today.

Student Parking Permits Student Parking Permits

Students’ use of personal vehicles on school property is a privilege. Students are expected to follow all expectations when operating a vehicle on school grounds.

  • Any student who intends to drive a vehicle to school must complete a Parking Permit Registration Form (here) and display an issued permit on their vehicle. Permits are provided at no cost to eligible students. Unregistered vehicles may lose parking privileges or be subject to towing. Parking passes will be issued starting on Sept. 8. Students must have permits on vehicles beginning on Sept. 14.

  • All State of Maine motor vehicle laws will apply, including excessive speed, noise, and reckless driving.

  • Only students with valid driver’s licenses will be eligible to park at York High School.

  • Students are expected to park in a marked parking space.

All students (yes, even seniors) are required to have their school pictures taken. Students will be taking pictures next Tuesday, Sept. 15 and Wednesday, Sept. 16 during their English classes. If they have English class on a BLUE DAY, then their pictures are on Tuesday. If they have English class on a WHITE DAY, then their pictures are on Wednesday.

The Student Resource Hub The Student Resource Hub

We have also created a new Student Resource Hub bookmark to make it easier for students to access important digital forms and resources. The Hub includes forms that were previously located in the Front Office Documents folder, including:

  • Late Arrival/Early Dismissal Form
  • Dance Guest Form
  • Extended Absence Form
  • And other commonly used student forms and resources

We encourage students to familiarize themselves with the Student Resource Hub, which will provide a convenient, centralized location for accessing these forms throughout the school year.

This year, we are limited in the amount of loaner chromebooks & chargers that we can hand out each day. We have approximately 12 loaner chromebooks / chargers for the entire YHS. Unfortunately, once our loaner chargers & chromebooks have been loaned out, there are no more for the day.

To help with this, please remind your student(s) to:

A. Charge their Chromebook at home EACH evening

B. Bring the Chromebook & charger to school EVERY school day.

Senior Parent Night Senior Parent Night

We hope to see you at our Senior Parent Night on Wednesday, September 16th at YHS in the York Community Auditorium from 6 to 7:30. We welcome you to join us for a presentation on the college application process and planning for after high school, tips to start early and stay organized, and information surrounding scholarships.
