Welcome to Week 10, Braves!

Welcome to Week 10, Braves!
Welcome to Week 10,Braves!

Brave Enough to Start, Strong Enough to Finish! Brave Enough to Start, Strong Enough to Finish!

STRONG ENOUGH TO FINISH. READY FOR WHAT’S NEXT.

πŸ–€πŸ’› Carey Newsletter | Week 10

Carey Families and Community,

We made it! Week 10 brings us to the end of Quarter 1.

At the beginning of the year, we challenged our students to be BRAVE enough to start. As we approached the end of the quarter, that challenge became STRONG enough to finish.

And nowβ€”it is time to finish what we started.

Quarter 1 has been filled with learning, challenges, friendships, mistakes, celebrations, second chances, and tremendous growth. Before we turn the page to Quarter 2, we have a few final things to take care of.

πŸ“š FINAL GRADES ARE AHEAD!

The finish line is here, Braves!

Students should take one final look at Infinite Campus and make sure they know where they stand in each class.

Check for missing work. Talk with your teachers. Complete anything that can still be completed. Ask questions. Use the time you have left wisely.

And remember:

Your grade tells you how you performed this quarter. It does NOT define who you are.

Celebrate what went well. Learn from what didn't. Then use both to set your goals for Quarter 2.

FINISH IT. OWN IT. LEARN FROM IT. GROW FROM IT.

⏰ Thursday, October 29: EARLY RELEASE

Braves will have an early release on Thursday, October 29.

Families, please plan accordingly for the adjusted school day and afternoon transportation.

Parent Teacher Conferences will also take place from 3:00–7:00 PM that evening.

We look forward to connecting with our Carey families!

🏠 Friday, October 30: NO SCHOOL

There will be NO SCHOOL for students on Friday, October 30.

Parent Teacher Conferences on Friday will be held by appointment only from 8:00–10:00 AM.

Enjoy the long weekend, Bravesβ€”and come back ready to begin Quarter 2!

🀝 Conferences: Celebrate. Reflect. Plan.

Parent Teacher Conferences are about more than grades.

They are an opportunity for students, families, and teachers to celebrate successes, identify areas for growth, and work together on what comes next.

As you talk with your Brave about Quarter 1, try these three questions:

What are you most proud of?
What did you learn about yourself?
What is one goal you have for Quarter 2?

That conversation turns a report card into an opportunity for growth.

πŸ’› Quarter 1: Look How Far You’ve Come

Some growth shows up as an A.

Some growth looks like turning in assignments more consistently.

Sometimes it is asking for help for the first time, making a new friend, getting to class on time, handling frustration differently, repairing a mistake, or simply refusing to give up.

Growth doesn't always show up in the gradebook.

Braves, take a moment this week to recognize something you do better today than you did when you walked through our doors at the beginning of the year.

That matters.

πŸ–€πŸ’› ONE QUARTER DOWN.

Ten weeks ago, we asked our Braves to have the courage to START.

Then we asked them to have the strength to FINISH.

Now we ask them to take everything Quarter 1 taught them and use it to become even better in Quarter 2.

Celebrate the wins. Learn from the challenges. Reset the goals. Keep moving forward.

BRAVE ENOUGH TO START.

STRONG ENOUGH TO FINISH.

READY TO GROW.

Quarter 1 complete. Quarter 2, here we come.

That’s How We BRAVE!

CAREY TRAFFIC REMINDER CAREY TRAFFIC REMINDER

πŸš—πŸ–€πŸ’› Safety First, Braves! Morning Drop-Off Reminder

We have seen an increase in vehicles not following our established morning drop-off procedures, so we need everyone’s help keeping arrival safe and moving smoothly.

When dropping students off in the morning, please use the designated drop-off lane directly in front of the school building. The parking lot is NOT a student drop-off area. Dropping students off in the parking lot creates additional vehicle and pedestrian traffic and increases safety concerns for students, staff, and families.

Please remember:

  • πŸš— Use the designated drop-off lane in front of Carey.
  • 🚫 Do not use the parking lot for student drop-off.
  • πŸ‘€ Watch carefully for students and pedestrians.
  • ➑️ Follow the established traffic flow and staff directions.
  • πŸ’› Be patientβ€”everyone has somewhere to be, and safety comes first.

Those extra few moments are worth it when they help ensure every Brave arrives safely.

SLOW DOWN. FOLLOW THE FLOW. KEEP BRAVES SAFE.

Safe. Respectful. Responsible. That’s How We BRAVE! πŸ–€πŸ’›

πŸ–€πŸ’› Parent Teacher Conferences: Let’s Connect!

πŸ“… Thursday, October 29

πŸ“ Carey Junior High School

No appointment is needed on Thursday. When you arrive, you will receive a copy of your student’s schedule and can visit teachers at their classrooms or designated neighborhood locations. Conferences are designed to be brief, approximately 3–5 minutes per teacher, so families have an opportunity to connect with each of their student’s teachers.

πŸ“… Friday, October 30
⏰ 8:00–10:00 AM
πŸ“ By Appointment Only

Friday morning is reserved for scheduled appointments and families who cannot make it on Thursday. Please email the teacher to set up a time during this window.

These conferences are about partnership. We are excited to share the positives, talk about progress, and work together to help every Brave continue moving forward.

Celebrate the growth. Strengthen the partnership. Support the next step.

πŸŽΆπŸ–€πŸ’› Carey Choirs Shine at β€œSerenade”!

Our Carey Braves hit all the right notes at their first choir concert of the year, β€œSerenade,” on October 21 at the East Performance Hall!

Representing Carey were our Concert Choir, Treble Choir, and Chamber Singers. Each group performed two selections of their own before coming together for a Carey Finale and then joining the East Choirs for a special combined finale.

Our Carey musicians represented our school beautifully! They were respectful, polite, professional, and sang their hearts out throughout the evening. Their performances reflected the many hours of practice, preparation, teamwork, and courage that happen long before students ever step onto the stage.

We are incredibly proud of our singers and all the hard work they put into making their first concert such a success.

🎡 Great music takes practice. Great performances take courage. Great Braves give it their all.

Way to represent Carey, musicians! πŸ–€πŸ’›

BRAVES DRESS FOR SUCCESS BRAVES DRESS FOR SUCCESS

CAREY DRESS CODE REMINDER

Dress for Success: Ready to Learn. Ready to BRAVE.

At Carey, we want every student to feel comfortable, confident, and ready to learn. A simple way to remember our dress expectations is the 4 Bs:

BACK β€’ BELLY β€’ BOTTOM β€’ BUST

These areas should remain appropriately covered throughout the school day. Our goal is not to focus on fashion choices, but to maintain a safe, respectful, and learning focused environment for everyone.

Before heading to school, take a quick look and ask:

β€œAm I dressed and ready for success?”

When we dress for the school day, we show respect for ourselves, one another, and our learning environment.

LOOK GOOD. FEEL GOOD. DO GOOD.

πŸ–€πŸ’› Lost Something? Let’s Find It! πŸ–€πŸ’›

Our Lost & Found is filling up! Sweatshirts, jackets, water bottles, lunch boxes, and other items are waiting to find their way home.

Families, please encourage your student to check the Lost & Found if something has gone missing. Students should take only items that belong to them and help us keep the area organized.

See it. Check it. Claim it. Take it home!

Transportation Reminder

🚌 Important Transportation Reminder

To help ensure students get where they need to go safely at the end of the day, please remember:

Bus passes are not issued after school.

If your student needs to ride a bus other than their regular route, parents/guardians must contact the school by 11:00 AM to guarantee that the bus change can be communicated to the student before dismissal.

Requests received after 11:00 AM may not reach your student in time.

Please plan ahead and call early! Thank you for helping us keep dismissal safe, organized, and smooth for all of our Braves. πŸ–€πŸ’›

Athletics and Events Athletics and Events

πŸ€πŸ€Ό Basketball & Wrestling Season: Grades Before Games!

Basketball and Wrestling season is here, Braves! We love seeing our students in the stands supporting their classmates, but remember that academic eligibility matters when attending Carey athletic events, too!

Students must be academically eligible to attend Carey sporting events. Before heading to the gym to cheer on our basketball players or wrestlers, take care of business in the classroom first!

Students who are not passing should use that time to attend Academic Academy or head home to complete missing work and get back on track.

πŸ“š Check your grades.
✏️ Complete your work.
πŸ™‹ Ask for help.
πŸ† Get eligible. Stay eligible. Cheer on your Braves!

Take care of business in the classroom so you can join the excitement in the stands!
