Dear Skier Families,

My voice is gruff from all the screaming and cheering this past week. With our Fall sports wrapping up and cheering on our students this morning as they walked into the PSAT, it’s been an exciting week of celebration. As October comes to a close, I’m reminded how quickly the seasons, and the school year, move here in Aspen. In the midst of busy schedules and changing weather, I hope our students and families find time to connect, look out for one another, and enjoy the little moments that make this community such a special place to call home.I hope that this week has brought you small and big moments of JOY.

Go Skiers!

Warmly,

Nina Pulatie

🏆 WEEKLY AHS ATHLETIC ROUNDUP

What a start to the fall season for Aspen Athletics! 🏔️🏆 Our student-athletes have been competing at an incredible level across the board:

⛳ Boys Golf finished 4th in the State Championships. •

🎾 Tennis won Regionals, with our Doubles Team taking 4th place at State! •

⚽ Soccer finished the season on an absolute tear, with Ryan Nitti setting new school scoring and point records! 🎉 •

🥎 Softball secured 3rd place in the league—a huge turnaround after tough recent seasons. •

🏐 Volleyball is on fire at 20-2, dominating the competition! Across all levels (C-Team, JV, Varsity), the girls program has suffered only 4 total losses—likely a school record! 🔥 •

🏈 Football punched their ticket to the playoffs for the first time since 2018! •

🏃‍♀️🏃 Cross Country saw the Girls win Regionals and the Boys finish 3rd, sending both squads to State! 👟💨

🗓️ Upcoming Schedule & Playoff Action

Things quiet down a bit this week with only two teams remaining in action:

  • Saturday: Football travels to Weld Central for Round 1 of the playoffs. 🚌🏈 •
  • Volleyball: Regular season play is wrapping up, and we expect home playoff match details soon. 🎟️

Bracket updates will be posted to the school website and social media channels as soon as official information is released! 📲

🎥 Live Streams, Film Exchange & Spectator Etiquette

Most of our contests are live-streamed, and film is exchanged per CHSAA regulations. 📹 Please remember that court-side and field-side microphones pick up ambient audio. 🎙️ We ask all spectators to keep language family-friendly to maintain a positive environment for our athletes and viewers! 👏

📚 Academic Eligibility & Game Day Attendance

Eligibility reports are run every Tuesday morning. Please ensure your student-athlete stays current on coursework and attendance. ✍️

  • Game Day Attendance Policy:* Student-athletes with any unexcused tardies or absences on a game day are ineligible to travel or participate. ⏰ If your student has a scheduled medical appointment or unavoidable conflict on a game day, please contact the Athletic Office in advance! 🩺

📣 Important Reminders

  • ❄️ Winter Sports Meeting: Tuesday, November 5th at 5:30 PM in the Commons. We will start with Athletic Director updates before splitting into sport-specific breakout sessions. 🗓️
  • 💳 Fall Sports Fees: If you have an unpaid balance, please log into your account to settle your fees.

🤝 Open-Door Policy

My door is always open! 🚪✨ If you ever have questions, suggestions, or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out. Confidentiality is strictly maintained, and your feedback helps us continue building a fantastic program! 🙌

Sincerely,

Brett Beville, AHS Athletics Director

Attendance Reminder:

Student attendance matters. We’re noticing an increase in absences during these fall months. Please log in to PowerSchool to view your student’s attendance. Reminder: 7 absences can start to impact student learning and growth in a class. 7 absences is equivalent to missing 20% of a class which is a lot of missed learning time. With block scheduling, 7 days missed is about 2 weeks of class missed.

AHS and Theatre Aspen Present: Carrie! The Musical- Tickets on Sale! Shows November 5th-8th

Carrie White is a teenage outcast who longs to fit in. At school, she’s bullied by the popular crowd, and virtually invisible to everyone else. At home, she’s dominated by her loving but cruelly controlling mother. What none of them know is that Carrie’s just discovered she’s got a special power, and if pushed too far, she’s not afraid to use it.

💗💗AHS Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) 💗💗

Thank you for the families that have donated to our PTO and offered to join our new AHS PTO! We have raised funds to help with staff appreciation and our next goal is to continue raising funds to support student clubs and spirit gear for student swag. Our goal this year is to bring back the SKIER SPIRIT and we would love your help with this work!

We are still looking for a enthusiastic parent representative to head up the AHS Parent Teacher Organization for this school year.

Our teachers, administrators, custodians, and support staff work tirelessly for our students. As the Squad Lead, you’ll help organize simple, high-impact acts of appreciation throughout the year, from organizing seasonal snack drops and coffee bars to coordinating small token gifts and festive pick-me-ups.

What’s involved?

  • Flexible Commitment: Perfect for sharing with a co-lead and volunteers!

  • Core Goal: Brainstorming and coordinating year-round staff recognition events.

  • Impact: Direct, visible gratitude for the people who make AHS great every single day.

If you love bringing people together, spreading positivity, and showing our staff some well-deserved love, we would love to have you on board!

Closed/Open Campus Policy

  • Reminder, Juniors and Seniors may leave campus for lunch; they may not come and go during free periods, just lunch. All 9th & 10th graders should stay on campus until they are dismissed for the day. Please have this conversation at home as we are noticing several Sophomores (Class of 2029) taking advantage of this opportunity.
