PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Friday, April 10th
THANK YOU to everyone who donated to stock the teacher's lounge this week! We are so grateful to our PTA for organizing this for us and to everyone who contributed! It is always so appreciated and the best way to start a Monday morning!
Our Kindergarteners were absolutely farm-tastic last night as they performed BINGO! for their families! The show was moo-vellous and it was so wonderful to see everyone having such a great time! Thank you to Mr. Whitaker and our Kindergarten teachers for getting the best out of the students!
MAP TESTING (NEW POST!)
MAP testing will begin next week. Students in grades K-5 will test in both reading and math.
Classroom teachers will share their testing schedules with you. We ask that you try to schedule any appointments or other outside activities around the assigned testing days and times.
Your support in making sure your child gets a good night of sleep and eats a healthy breakfast on testing day is appreciated.
ROAD SAFETY AROUND PATTON (NEW POST!)
We received notification from a parent and a neighbor this week about some incorrectly parked cars and some hazardous driving at the intersections of Maude and Harvard. Please adhere to the parking signage on the streets surrounding Patton and please remember that parking is not allowed on Maude and Harvard between 8:00-9:00 am and 3:00-4:00 pm on school days.
Please also ensure that you are following the speed limit and be aware of pedestrians in the cross walk on Maude. We have been informed of a couple of close calls recently. As the weather warms up we anticipate an increase in walkers, and more students using bikes and scooters so we appreciate everyone's cooperation and commitment to keeping our community safe. For those biking and scootering, we appreciate everyone remembering to wait to ride them until they are off school property.

PTA REFLECTIONS - CELEBRATION (NEW POST!)
Twelve Patton Panthers were celebrated at the Northwest Cook Region PTA Reflections ceremony that was held in Schaumburg on Monday. All of these students’ projects, ranging from literature to photography, advanced to the State Level. These students will have a unique opportunity to showcase their projects and engage in workshops on April 18th at Thomas Jefferson Middle School. Super cool!
At the ceremony, the PTA also unveiled the theme for next year: “What My Culture Means to Me.” We would love Patton students to start thinking about creatively expressing this theme.
Finally, every student who participated in Reflections this year will be honored at the District 25 meeting on Tuesday, April 21st at 7pm.

26-27 SCHOOL YEAR PARENT/GUARDIAN FEEDBACK FORM (FINAL POST!)
Below you will find a form you can fill out should you like to provide the school with any information you feel would be important as we consider class placement for your child(ren). Please know that the placement process for all Patton students is extensive and well thought out. To that end, it is important to understand that requests for a specific teacher will not be considered, as allowing parents to request teachers puts a significant strain on an already extensive process. Please do not make friend requests for your child as it is not possible to honor all of these requests. All staff members are committed to providing the best education for your children.
This form is to be completed by FRIDAY, APRIL 17, 2026. Please complete one form for each child. Please do not send separate emails as this google form is intended to consolidate all information in one place. Sending separate emails increases the possibility of your feedback not being included in this process.
Thank you so much for partnering with us on this front. Once we begin our process, it is difficult to give new information equal consideration so we appreciate your understanding that FRIDAY, APRIL 17, 2026 is a hard deadline.
GYM, RECESS AND AFTER SCHOOL ACTIVITY PARTICIPATION GUIDELINES (ONGOING POST!)
Excusing Children from PE - Physical Education
Parents may request that their child be excused from Physical Education for one day due to a medical reason. Any absence beyond one day requires a physician’s note.
For elementary students, physician orders must clearly state any restrictions for both Physical Education and Recess. Students who are unable to participate in Physical Education may not participate in school-sponsored sports clubs during that time.
Excusing Children from Outdoor Activities / Recess
Elementary students regularly participate in outdoor activities during Physical Education classes, daily recess, and the lunch period. For the safety of all students, children are expected to go outside during these times unless there is a documented medical reason. If your child needs to remain indoors, a physician’s note is required that specifically states the outdoor restriction.
After School Activities and Events
Students absent from classes on the day of an extracurricular event may not be allowed to participate in that day’s activities or event. Prior planning by parents and school helps eliminate any such conflicts.
