Independence or Dependence? Independence or Dependence?

July is the halfway point of the year, making it the perfect time to pause and ask yourself an important question: Is the path I'm on today leading me to the future I truly want? As we celebrate the 250th anniversary of our nation's independence this month, it's also an opportunity to reflect on what independence means in our own lives. For many professionals, it isn't just about patriotism. It's about having greater control over your income, your time, and your future instead of relying solely on an employer to determine what's next. If you've been waiting for the "right time" to make a change, perhaps this is your reminder that the second half of the year can look very different from the first. Small steps taken today can create meaningful opportunities tomorrow. This month, I encourage you to think beyond the next paycheck and consider what greater independence could look like for your career, your family, and your future.

All my best!

Made 4 More Mondays – Did You Miss It? Made 4 More Mondays – Did You Miss It?

Every Monday, I share a short Made 4 More message designed to challenge how we think about career, wealth, and the decisions that shape our future.

One that sparked meaningful conversation recently was The Cost of a Business. The message challenged a common mindset I hear in my coaching practice: many people are willing to finance homes, vehicles, and college educations with no guarantee of a return, yet hesitate to invest in a business that has the potential to generate income, build equity, and create long-term financial freedom. The obstacle is often not the price of a business. It's our belief in ourselves and our willingness to think like an investor instead of a consumer. When you begin viewing business ownership as an asset rather than an expense, it opens the door to a completely different way of thinking about your future and what is truly possible.

I post Made 4 More Mondays every week. If you missed this one, you can catch it and others on my YouTube channel.

Stop Looking for a Business That Needs You Stop Looking for a Business That Needs You

One of the biggest misconceptions I hear is, "I should only own a business in an industry I know."

My response is always the same.

If your goal is to grow a business, why would you want to be the one doing the work?

Think about your own career. Is your boss the best engineer, accountant, salesperson, or technician? Probably not. Their job isn't to do everyone's work. Their job is to lead the people who do.

The same is true in business ownership.

The most successful business owners aren't experts at every task. They build teams, create a vision, make decisions, and develop people. They hire expertise instead of trying to become the expert themselves.

Your greatest asset isn't the industry you've spent the last 20 or 30 years in. It's the leadership, communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills you've developed along the way. Those are the skills that transfer from one business to another.

Too often, we limit our future by believing our past is all we're qualified to do. But business ownership isn't about recreating your career. It's about creating the life you want to live.

Think bigger. Dream bigger. Expand your horizons.

The question isn't, "What do I know how to do?" It's, "What kind of life do I want to build?"

You may be capable of far more than you've ever allowed yourself to imagine.

July Quote:

"The greatest obstacle to discovery is not ignorance...it is the illusion of knowledge."
