Long Island Students Share In-Depth Conversations at Regional Student Forum

We are incredibly proud of the 100+ students from more than 40 districts who participated in the Long Island Regional Student Forum that was hosted by Eastern Suffolk, Western Suffolk and Nassau BOCES on February 28. The adults who were privileged to be in the room all spoke of the students’ incredible passion and ideas. More than 700 students from across Long Island participated in the virtual conversation prior to the event to determine the topics that were discussed. We will share a presentation of the results in the near future. Thank you to ThoughtExchange for working with us on the forum. View a photo gallery and a video montage.

BOCES Week

During the week of February 24-28, Nassau BOCES students, administrators, Board members and staff held a series of in-person and virtual meetings with five State Senators, ten Assemblymembers, or their representatives. We discussed several priority issues, including Civil Service reforms to address staffing issues; an increase in BOCES aid for CTE teachers' salaries; and pausing electric bus requirements. Our students also shared how the BOCES programs they attend are helping to shape their lives and reach their educational goals. We are very grateful for the time and consideration provided by each legislator.
