Coin War for Feed My Starving Children
Get ready to dig through your couch cushions and check your car floorboards! This April, DuJardin is launching a school-wide Coin War to benefit a truly wonderful organization: Feed My Starving Children (FMSC).
While we’ve done "Penny Wars" in the past, we are shaking things up this year. Every single coin counts toward your grade level’s total—whether it’s a penny, nickel, dime, or quarter!
How it Works:
The Competition: Each grade level will have its own collection jug in the main hallway.
The Goal: The grade level that collects the highest total value of coins by the end of April will win a special grade-level reward!
The Impact: While the competition is friendly, the real winner is Feed My Starving Children. Every cent collected goes directly toward providing life-saving meals to children in need around the world.
It is a powerful way for our students to see how their "small change" can make a "big difference" in the lives of others.
Start saving that spare change now! The "War" officially begins on Wednesday, April 6th.
On April 28th, the 3rd, 4th and 5th graders from Kids for Character Club and Student Council will be going to Feed My Starving Children. We would love to see how much we can bring as a school to donate.
Thank you for your generosity and for helping our Jaguars lead with heart!

Registration for 2026-2027 IS NOW OPEN!!!
Kindergarten Eligibility Children who will be five years of age on or before September 1, 2026, are eligible to enroll in Kindergarten for the upcoming school year.
New vs. Returning Student Portals To streamline the process, we have two distinct registration pathways:
New Student Portal: For families brand new to District 13.
Returning Student Portal: For any student currently enrolled in D13 during the 2025-2026 school year.
Important Note for Transitioning Students If your child currently attends a D13 school, they are considered a returning student. You should use the Returning Student Portal even if your child is moving from one building to another (for example, moving from DuJardin Elementary to Westfield Middle School OR moving from Preschool at Erickson to Kindergarten at Erickson or DuJardin).

Weekend/Week Night NEWS
Would you like to celebrate your child's achievements with the DuJardin community? We love to recognize our students' accomplishments both inside and outside of school. If your child won a trophy with their sports team or outside organization, or achieved a significant milestone, we'd be happy to announce it during our morning announcements or lunch period.
Click here to share a short blurb with your child's name, grade, and the exciting news you'd like to share.

Required Health Forms for the upcoming school year:
- Kindergarten: Physical, Dental, & Vision
- 2nd Grade: Dental
- Health Office Website
Student Needs:
Please inform the nurse of any allergies or sensitivities to foods, medications, and environmental allergens. If there are any pertinent details of your students' health that you feel the nurse needs to know, please reach out and discuss this with the school nurse. This information can be helpful to better support your student throughout the day, if certain situations arise.
About Your Student’s Medication:
The district's medication administration policy mandates that all medication to be administered at school requires an MD order, this includes over-the-counter medications. Students may NOT keep over-the-counter meds in their backpacks or in their lockers--including cough drops, Advil, etc. This is an important safety concern! Please review the policy included in the registration process.
If your student requires an inhaler, Epi-Pen, or any oral medication, please obtain the medication form and appropriate health care plan from your physician when your child has their exam. Forms may also be obtained on the district website.
Excused Physical Education Class:
Please note that all PE excuses need to be sent to the Nurse's Office. A parent may excuse a student from PE for up to 3 days. (consecutively) Thereafter, a Doctor's note is required.
Calls home from the Nurse:
Phone calls home are warranted in the event of a head injury, minor or major
All in school sickness including fever of 100.4 (oral) or greater, vomiting and/or diarrhea
Please prepare to keep your child home until:
Fever-free for a full 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medication.
Vomiting and diarrhea has ceased for a full 24 hours
Please refer to the General Health Guidelines which can be found on the district website
Send a note to school or email your students teacher and office if....
Your child/ren is walking home or being picked up instead of taking the bus
Your child/ren is being picked up by someone other than who is on the pick up list

AR Reading Program
The Accelerated Reader (AR) program at DuJardin: Students in first-fifth grade can take AR tests on the books they read.
As students earn points, they can get rewards, including bookmarks, brag tags, and a chance to attend our special AR Night Out in January and the big End of Year Field Trip in May!
Mr. Pearlman will be going over the AR program during library with our First and Second grade students this coming week. Most books we have in the library are AR books and students can read the book and take a quiz to earn points. So, find a great book, get reading, and let's get those points!
Click here for more information about the AR program at DuJardin.
Please note: this is an optional reading incentive program.
