Women in Sports Day
On May 20th, ESS will be hosting a Women in Sport Day.
The day will begin with a fun, whole-group warm-up, followed by two morning and two afternoon sessions. For each session, students will choose between two different sports or fitness activities, allowing them to explore new experiences or deepen their athletic interests. Total of 4 different experiences for each girl throughout the day.
Lunch will be provided, and all participants will receive a swag bag they can use as their own athletic bag. Body Systems will also be on-site offering protein shakes throughout the day.
To close the event, we’ll come back together for a group yoga session to cool down and reflect on what each student will take away from the experience.
It’s going to be an amazing day for female students in grades 9–12 to enjoy athletics, connect with each other, and learn from incredible coaches and instructors from our ESS staff, local community, and Loyalist College. We hope it helps inspire their athletic journey at Eastside moving forward.
Interested students are encouraged to sign up by May 14th. If you have any questions, please see Ms. Tripp.
CONGRATS at Ontario Skills Competition
Way to go Bailey, John and Jason for representing ESS at Skills Ontario in Toronto. We are proud of you!
NEW: Possible fines from HPE Public Health
As directed by the Ministry of Education in Policy/Program Memorandum 128, all Ontario school boards will be required to follow the updated Provincial Code of Conduct.
NEW: If a student is vaping/smoking on school premises, a progressive discipline approach will be followed, which will include an out of school suspension and a possible fine from the Health Unit. Fines start at $305 and can include a court date as well.
Safe Schools Attendance Change
The Safe Schools App only records full day absences. The option to input lates of half days into the App is no longer available. If your student will be arriving late or leaving early, parents/guardians need to call the school or email ess@hpedsb.on.ca.
E-Learning Support
In order to support parents navigate the new world of online learning, below you'll find a photo of some "look-fors" when you receive an email about your student's online learning progress. If you have any questions about their progress, please email their teacher directly.
Student Responsibilities
Eastside Secondary School is committed to providing a safe, positive learning environment for all students which allows students to thrive in an atmosphere which emphasizes respect for learning, self, others, authority, property and the environment. We actively promote acceptance of all students and we teach understanding, tolerance and communication. There is no place for violence, intimidation or foul language at Eastside Secondary School.
As valued partners in your student(s) education, we need your help to have important conversations at home about kindness, civility, inclusivity and the harmful impact that non-inclusive and derogatory comments have on others. As we continue learning together, we will see more students, parents, educators, and school staff addressing hateful actions with the ultimate goal of ending them in our school community.
Students are expected to review the full Student Responsibilities.
