Message from Walker Administration
April 24, 2026
Dearest Walker Families,
This week, we had the opportunity to welcome our new Walker staff members coming from Wolford Elementary. We loved preparing for their first visit and know you will be so pleased with the addition to our team. Stay tuned for introductions - coming soon!
With our increased student population due to recent rezoning, we have 2 new teaching allocations, meaning we have openings in 1st and 2nd grade. Walker teachers are the very best in their field and we like to hire staff that can enhance the elementary experience and align with our core values of kindness, relationships, family, and teamwork. If you have an exceptional teacher friend that may be considering joining the MISD family, please encourage them to complete the online application on the MISD website and email us.
We hope you found the MISD Inflatable Permission Slip in your child's take home folder. This NEW form is required to participate in the water slide station during field day. Please let your child's teacher know if you need another copy. Student with permission will be given a wristband on field day.
Have a nice weekend!
Sincerely,
Michelle Baumann, Principal
Misty Young, Asst. Principal

Attendance Matters!
Studies show that excessive absences can negatively impact a child's education, including the loss of teacher-led lessons, peer interactions, and academic achievement. While we do not want our students to attend school if they are sick, please help us make punctuality and daily attendance a priority for your Star/s regarding all other circumstances. Should you need to keep your child home for any reason, please click the button below to report an absence.
MISD School Safety
MISD School Safety
A critical ingredient in the safe school recipe is the uniform classroom response to any incident. Weather events, fires, accidents, intruders and other threats to student safety are scenarios that are planned and trained for by all McKinney ISD schools and District Administration and staff. Historically, schools have taken this scenario-based approach to respond to hazards and threats. Each McKinney ISD classroom is furnished with the Standard Response Protocol poster that provides teachers with readily accessible response procedures and provides information during a crisis event. The attached handout explains Standard Response Protocol that is taught to students, faculty and staff.
Please this link to view the Standard Response Protocol parent information.

NOTE: A free Membership Toolkit account is required, & if you already have one, it will need to be updated for this school year before you proceed.

Volunteer Information
As a service to McKinney ISD students and families, the district provides the Community Folder for school related, non-school related, and non-profit organizations. Electronic communication has become standard and is preferred by many parents; the schools are sharing more and more information via email as a convenience to parents. This also cuts back on paper coming home in folders. Information posted and accepted must be youth-oriented and will be reviewed and approved by the Communications Department. Updates will be posted often, so we ask that you check back for the latest opportunities and information from our community.
