CGS Staff of the Week Shout Out - Mrs. Redd

This week, we'd like to take a moment to shout out our Staff of the Week- Mrs. Redd!

Mrs. Redd is our fantastic librarian and specials teacher for our Elementary Students at our K-8 Campus! Mrs. Redd helps organize all of our fun Book Fair events that are enjoyed by all of our students and staff! She also helps assist with our Santa Store that runs at the holidays which always proves to be a very busy and full library as our kiddos shop for their loved ones. Mrs. Redd is also our door greeter each morning and afternoon as our Grizzlies arrive and dismiss for the day. She is there to ensure our Grizzlies get into and out of our building safely! We've also been told that she gives the VERY BEST HUGS and we AGREE!! πŸ˜πŸ’–Our kiddos look for Mrs. Redd each day to start their day off by getting a little "extra love" in the morning with a great big smile and hug before they start their day! πŸ’“

Mrs. Redd also helps enforce our school initiatives by supporting them in the library with social emotional learning, building character and working on their reading/writing skills! Mrs. Redd assists our MTSS team as well by pulling small groups of students and working with them one-on-one to practice their learning objectives!

Thank you Mrs. Redd for all that you do for our Grizzlies and for being everyone's "grandma" especially to our youngest Grizzlies in the building! Thank you for all that you do for our Grizzlies, Staff, and Admin team!! πŸ’šπŸ’™

Please take a moment to shout her out when you see her!

K-8 Campus Updates

Hello Grizzly Families,

This past week we completed both our regular monthly fire drill and our fall lockdown drill. Thank you to our students and staff for their calm, focused participation.

Quick Reminders

  • Arrival: Please plan your morning so that your Grizzly is walking into the building no later than 7:42 and is ready for instruction. The instructional day begins promptly at 7:45.

  • Front circle: Please do not drop off students in the front circle. It is reserved for those with administrative authorization.

  • Parking stalls: If you have a meeting or need to bring in items, please use the parking stalls.

  • Car riders: Otherwise, car riders should be dropped off in their designated lines. This keeps our traffic circle clear and safe for everyone. Your cooperation is appreciated.

Looking Ahead
Next week we will recognize students for academic achievement, attendance, and behavior. Please continue to encourage your Grizzly to Do, Be and Show their BEST each and every day!

Thank you and have a restful weekend!

School Nurse Updates: Medication and Immunization Requirements

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We are dropping into cooler temperatures, which means that sicknesses may increase during the fall/winter seasons. Please see the information below to help us keep our students safe and healthy at school!

Please help us reduce the spread of illness by encouraging the following practices:

  • Handwashing: Encourage students to wash their hands frequently with soap and water.

  • Cover coughs and sneezes: Remind students to cough or sneeze into their elbow or a tissue.

  • Clean shared surfaces: Regularly clean frequently touched surfaces and shared materials.

  • Monitor symptoms: Be aware of students experiencing fever, persistent cough, sore throat, congestion, body aches, or unusual fatigue.

  • Keep sick students home: Students who are ill should remain home and follow school illness guidelines before returning.

  • Practice good respiratory hygiene: Encourage students to avoid sharing drinks, utensils, and other personal items.

This update is being shared for general awareness and prevention. Staying informed and practicing everyday prevention measures can help protect our students, staff, and families.

Thank you for all you do to help keep our school community healthy!

Sincerely,

Angela Corbett, BSN, RN

Bed Bug Awareness Information for Parents

(**CGS does not have a bed bug infestation or major concerns for one at this current time as confirmed by extermination professionals, HOWEVER, we feel that sharing the information below is vital in your partnership in helping us keep our CGS school community safe and healthy.)

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We wanted to make families aware that a bed bug (1) was found at our High School Campus at the end of last week. (Those parents of students directly impacted were contacted by CGS Admin) We are sharing this information as a precaution so parents know what to look for and how to help prevent the spread of bed bugs.

Bed bugs are small, flat, oval-shaped insects that are usually reddish-brown in color. Adult bed bugs are approximately the size of an apple seed. They do not fly or jump but can crawl onto personal belongings, including backpacks, jackets, lunch bags, and other items.

What should you look for at home?

Please take a few minutes to check your child's personal belongings and sleeping areas for the following signs:

Β· Live insects or tiny eggs.

Β· Small dark or rusty-colored spots on sheets, mattresses, or mattress seams.

Β· Shed insect skins.

Β· Red, itchy bumps on the skin, sometimes appearing in clusters or lines. Please remember that bites alone do not confirm the presence of bed bugs.

What can you do to help?

Β· Inspect your child's backpack, jacket, lunch bag, and other belongings regularly.

Β· Check mattress seams and bedding if you suspect bed bugs at home.

Β· If bed bugs are suspected, wash washable clothing and bedding and dry them on a high-heat setting when the fabric allows.

Β· Contact a qualified pest management professional if you find evidence of an infestation.

Β· Please avoid using pesticides on your child's body, clothing, or personal belongings.

Important Information for Families

Bed bugs are not known to spread disease to people, and their presence is not a reflection of cleanliness. Anyone can encounter bed bugs, and finding one insect does not automatically mean there is an infestation.

We ask that families remain calm and take reasonable precautions by checking personal belongings and watching for signs of bed bugs. If you have concerns, please contact the school so we can address the situation discreetly and appropriately.

Thank you for your cooperation and for helping us maintain a safe and healthy environment for all students.
