Celebrating Learning, Culture, and Wolfpack Victories! Celebrating Learning, Culture, and Wolfpack Victories!

It’s been another incredible week at Great Oak! Visiting classrooms, we saw students deeply engaged in learning and collaboration. Our teachers also worked hard in curriculum planning meetings, analyzing data and making thoughtful decisions to strengthen teaching and learning for all Great Oak students.

A special thank-you to our Video Media Arts students, who have been creating Public Service Announcements addressing important topics on campus. We’re excited to see their work air on Wolfpack Television in the coming weeks!

This week also featured our Fall Choral Concert, showcasing the talent and dedication of our student performers. We wrapped up the week with a vibrant Filipino Culture Fest on the Senior Lawn—an inspiring celebration of culture, community, and the unity that makes our campus so special. A big thank-you to our Peer Leaders for organizing this meaningful event!

Friday night brought even more excitement as our Wolfpack earned a Red, White, and Blue Game victory over the Santiago Sharks! Before kickoff, we were thrilled to welcome our middle school band programs from Gardner and Vail Ranch, who helped fill the stands with music and school spirit.

Thank you to all our students, staff, and families for making Great Oak such a vibrant place to learn and grow!

CalKIDS Program

The California Kids Investment and Development Savings Program (CalKIDS) was launched in 2022 by the State of California with a clear mission: make it easier for more children to save for their future education.

Administered by the ScholarShare Investment Board, CalKIDS takes the initiative by automatically offering newborns and eligible low-income public school children in California an initial seed deposit, along with other potential financial incentives. This ensures that they can start their college and career savings journey right from the beginning. TVUSD students who qualified have at least $500 in their CalKids account, and some might have more. Here are the steps students need to take to claim their account:

Reminder from PBIS - No Go List Reminder from PBIS - No Go List

If your student has accumulated 8 or more hours of detention due to issues such as tardies, single period truancies, and/or disciplinary actions they are on the school's NO GO List. This designation means they are currently ineligible to make purchases from the school bookstore, including tickets to dances and parking permits. It will also deny students entry into WSB and other school events such as athletic contests. For athletes, this also includes being unable to leave school early for away game transportation or contests.

To be removed from the NO GO List, students must reduce their total detention time to below 8 hours. Detention can be served during the following times:

  • Before school: 7:50 AM – 8:20 AM room 306

  • During lunch: Room 306

  • Saturday School: Counts for 4 hours

We encourage students to take advantage of these opportunities to clear their hours and regain eligibility for school activities.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. Please feel free to contact Mr. Morton, PBIS Coordinator, if you have any questions.
