A message from your principal A message from your principal

Hello Evergreen Families,

Monday is the start of the second semester and we are all excited to start! Students and families should have access to their schedules now via StudentVue and ParentVue. There are usually a few schedules that need to be updated due to class size or an incorrect placement. There shouldn't be, but we will see.

On that note, when students arrive to school on Monday they will look at the large posters on the walls in the lobby and in the cafeteria to locate their first period class location. Then they will go to that classroom to pick up their full schedule. Teachers will go over lunches with them as well so they know where they are going.

We have seen a rise in body sprays, perfumes, and colognes coming to school with students. Schools are scent free spaces which means scented products are to be kept at home rather than bringing them to school. If you can help your student keep these products at home, that would really help out our students who have allergies to scented products.

If students to read at least 30 minutes at night in addition to what they read during their school day it will help improve their reading skills. As they move up in grade level, the reading skill level goes up too. A little extra reading can go a long way!

Stay warm out there!

Sincerely,

Sara

Fragrance Sensitivity Reminder Fragrance Sensitivity Reminder

Families we have noticed more students have been coming to school with perfume or cologne bottles. Not only can they be expensive, but cause a large mess.

While many choose to wear fragrances at school, fragrances should be worn in moderation so as not to distract, disrupt, or offend others. This means fragrances should be used at home before coming to the building.

We are hoping families can help in telling students to leave their perfume and cologne bottles at home. It will help us to have less spills in backpacks, hallways, and restrooms as well as alleviate the ability to spray in our classrooms and hallways. Thank you for your understanding!

Starting Next Month: Assigned Bus Seating for Middle School Starting Next Month: Assigned Bus Seating for Middle School

Our first semester is quickly progressing and in January, we will officially transition to our second semester. As we do so, our Transportation team will be establishing bus seating charts for all regular education middle school bus routes. These seating charts are needed to better ensure student safety including bus behavior and will be implemented after students return from Mid-Winter Break, on February 23, 2026.

Across the coming month of January, we will prepare our students for this forthcoming change. Understandably, students may not agree with this decision but sitting in an assigned seat will become a requirement for riding a bus to/from school. Prior to implementing assigned seats, students will have the opportunity to select a seat assignment where they feel most comfortable. This approach supports a welcoming and inclusive environment for all students. By knowing their daily assigned seat and seat partner, students can experience a greater sense of safety, belonging and reduced anxiety in what can often feel like a confined space. Knowing they have a reserved seat significantly reduces conflicts on the bus resulting from arguing over a particular seat and reduces anxiety about having to sit by (or away from) other students. Assigned seating will also help increase the efficiency of bus loading and unloading, both at our school and at bus stops, by allowing students to become familiar with their regular seating arrangements.

Kutz 4 Kidz supports homeless, low-income families, and students receiving free or reduced lunch, with a special focus on African American students and those facing economic hardships.

How to get vouchers?
Visit your school’s front office or speak to your school counselor, family specialist, or KIT coordinator for more information.

Student Public Library Accounts Available!

All students in Everett Public Schools now have access to resources at both Everett Public Libraries and Sno-Isle Libraries, using a simple username and password for both. This partnership has expanded our students' access to ebooks, audiobooks, physical books, databases, and other digital resources.

This month, librarians will begin introducing the public library resources to students and helping them log in. It won't be all at once, but usernames and passwords will stay the same as long as the student is in the district. Please check with your school librarian for more information.

Seattle Children's Psychiatric Urgent Care Clinic

Seattle Children’s is happy to announce the opening Sept. 30 of a new Psychiatric Urgent Care Clinic, the first pediatric-focused psychiatric urgent care in Washington state. We hope you will share this information with your teams.

What: Same-day in-person and virtual (video) visits providing mental and behavioral health crisis assessment, initial treatment recommendations and referral to follow-up resources in the community. Care is provided by our experienced team of licensed mental health therapists, family advocates/case managers, psychiatric advanced practice providers (APPs) and medical assistants.

Who: Designed for youth ages 4 through 17 who are experiencing a mental health crisis and need same-day intervention but do not need the services of an emergency department (ED). We care for all Washington youth ages 4 through 17, including children and teens with autism and intellectual and developmental disabilities.

When: Open daily from noon to 8 p.m.; closed on major holidays.

Where: We see youth in person at Seattle Children’s Magnuson, located at 6901 Sand Point Way NE in Seattle, and through video visits from anywhere in Washington state. We recommend scheduling a same-day in-person appointment online or getting in the virtual line for a video visit. We have very limited capacity to see walk-ins and cannot guarantee walk-in access.

Please encourage families who live outside the Seattle area to use the virtual/video option. They must be physically in Washington state during the video visit.

How: Before scheduling a visit, learn whether to go to Psychiatric Urgent Care or an ED. A referral is not required.

  • For in-person visits, schedule a same-day appointment online. (Scheduling opens at 12:01 am daily.)
  • For video visits from anywhere in Washington state, get in the virtual line to be seen. (The first spots in virtual line open at 11:30 am daily.)
  • Please note that spots in the virtual line will open up throughout the clinic day, please encourage youth and families to regularly check back for availability.
  • Please note we have very limited capacity to see walk-ins and cannot guarantee walk-in access. Please encourage patients/families to schedule an in-person appointment online or get in the virtual line to be seen for a video visit.

Why: This new service – the first of its kind in the Washington, Alaska, Montana and Idaho region – is part of Seattle Children’s ongoing commitment to building out the continuum of care to ensure children and teens receive the right level of care at the right time. Psychiatric Urgent Care is intended to connect children and teens in Washington state to faster crisis assessment and follow-up resources in the community.

Please note that patients seen in the Psychiatric Urgent Care Clinic will not access other outpatient psychiatry services at Seattle Children’s faster than those referred through the normal process.

  • Join Natural Leaders or the PTA
  • Read aloud to students in book groups
  • Help students study their math facts
  • Supervise games at recess or during lunch
  • Welcome students to school in the morning
  • Help out in the student store during one lunch or more

There are many other ways to help out as well. If you are curious, please let us know by getting in touch with our main office staff at 425-385-5700 or by completing this form.
