DEER RUN PTO NEWSLETTER

We are kicking off two weeks of anticipation for our biggest fundraiser of the year - THE DEER RUN RUN! The Deer Run Run is a RUN-A-THON Fundraiser. Students receive pledges from family and friends to support them as they run or walk outside on the Grizzell Track on Friday, October 3rd (rain date - October 10th).

All of the donations received during the Deer Run Run will support the initiatives of the PTO for this school year, including school programs, activities, events, new school equipment, classroom supplies, teacher grants, classroom parties, field trips and more.

There will be lots of information on the Deer Run Run coming home tomorrow (9/19) - be sure to check those backpacks for all the details, including our student raffle prizes!

This year's Leeds Farm event will be Friday, October 24th!

Join the Deer Run community for an evening of fall fun, including hay rides, corn cribs, pedal carts, slides, farm animals, and the popular pumpkin jump!

** Please note this is not a student drop off event. Parents/guardians must stay with their children for the entire event. **

Unfortunately we cannot allow last minute substitute volunteers in place of those signed up for parties if they have not completed the background check process. Thank you for your understanding. There is additional information on the background check process below, and please contact Mrs. Guthrie in the front office if you have any questions!

REMINDER: ALL parent/family members that wish to volunteer for the 2025-2026 school year will need to have a completed background check on file with the district. This will apply to classroom volunteers, PTO events, field trips and any other school event. This online process is quick, secure and free for applicants. Click button below to complete the process!

PLEASE NOTE: If any family member, other than a parent, is applying to volunteer please inform Carol Guthrie at guthrie_carol@dublinschools.net to ensure a timely approval!

CURRENT VOLUNTEERS: Be sure to double check the expiration date on your volunteer card. You cannot "renew" your card and instead must complete the background check process again before it expires. Thank you for attending to this well in advance of your volunteering date.

From our friends at PERC:

September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month. In our efforts to educate and support our Dublin community, PERC, along with Dublin City Schools and the Franklin County Suicide Prevention Coalition, is offering a free Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR) suicide prevention training. Similar to CPR, QPR is an emergency response to someone in crisis and can save lives.

This training is available free of charge to anyone in our community. There are three session options, and attendees only need to attend one training to be QPR trained.

There are a number of after school classes available for our Deer Run students, including art, robotics, fashion, engineering, and drama - there is something for everyone! Visit this link for registration information!

Are you signed up for "Kroger Community Rewards"? With a few simple steps, you can link your Kroger Shop Card to Deer Run and a small donation will be made to our school every time you shop. It does not cost you anything and it does not pull from your rewards.

Follow these steps to sign up -

1. Sign in to your digital Kroger account on the app or your computer.
2. In the drop down on the left hand side, Find "Rewards", then select "Community Rewards". On the website, click on "My Account" under your name, and then select "Community Rewards".
3. Search for "Deer Run Elementary School", select, and click "Save". Your selected organization will now display in the Kroger Community Rewards section of your account.
