Schedule & Cancel Events In FSDirect
FSDirect scheduling ensures building access, temperature control, lighting, custodial services, and equipment setup.
For scheduling assistance, contact Michelle Arnold.
Activities, Athletic Practice, & Contests
During inclement weather, per the Columbia Public Schools Activities & Athletic Guidelines, CPS administration intends to determine by 10:00 a.m. whether activities/athletic practice and contests may be allowed.
If these types of events are allowed across the district, a building decides whether to proceed with its extracurricular schedule.
When events are canceled, help conserve District resources and cancel the event in FSDirect.
District Snow & Ice Removal Priority
Avoid Snow Removal Priority Areas:
1. Bus loops and driveways
2. Walkways
3. Shipping & receiving, and facilities areas
FCS may prioritize snow removal for those buildings with allowed events scheduled in FSDirect, particularly when school is not in session.
Snow Removal Tips For Home & On The Road
Avoid Second Shoveling
It's great to see the snow plow until it makes a new snow bank at the end of the cleared driveway. Clear a snow collection area before the driveway's entrance and in the direction of traffic.
Click the image to monitor the City's plowing progress using the Street and Snow Route Priority Viewer, updated every 15 minutes.
Allow For The Plow
Driving behind the snow plow is a safer section of road to drive on but they can't see you if you can't see the plow's side view mirrors. Be sure to maintain a distance of 5 car lengths, avoid passing, slow down, and allow extra time for braking.
Ask FCS
How may we help you?
Ask FCS is an opportunity for you to find out the nuts and bolts of what we do and how FCS serves the district.
Email Michelle Arnold with questions about Carpentry, Custodial Services, Grounds, Key Shop, Painters, Specialized Maintenance, Surplus, and the Warehouse. FAQ's to be answered in upcoming FCS Building Connections newsletters.
