In the fast-paced world of athletics, it is crucial to recognize and address the unique mental health challenges women face in sports. Societal expectations, stereotypes, and pressure points from professional and personal concerns impact the mental health of female athletes. Empowering women in sports involves the collaboration of coaches, teammates, and sports organizations in creating a supportive ecosystem that prioritizes mental health and well-being. This webinar aims to initiate a powerful conversation about women's mental health in sports. By addressing this critical issue, we hope to inspire positive change and contribute to creating a sports culture that values the well-being of every athlete.

Dr. Maria Luisa Guinto has over twenty years of experience as a sport psychologist serving professional and amateur athletes and teams in the Philippines. A licensed psychologist, she is also a registered practitioner at the International Society of Sport Psychology. Currently, she is an associate professor at the Department of Sports Science at the College of Human Kinetics at the University of the Philippines Diliman. As one of the forerunners of sport psychology in the country, she was one of the leading proponents of the Sport and Exercise Special Interest Group at the Psychological Association of the Philippines, where she now serves as its International Relations Officer. She also serves as Vice-President for Membership at the Asian South-Pacific Association of Sport Psychology, Board Secretary of the International Association of Physical Education and Sport for Girls and Women, Scientific Adviser at the Foundation for Global Community Health, and Chief Editor of the International Sports Studies.
