Message from our Principal Message from our Principal

Our first nine weeks have come to an end, and we are proud of the hard work our students have shown! Their effort, growth, and accomplishments have given us much to celebrate. October was filled with excitement and Wildcat pride, and we look forward to seeing what the rest of the school year brings.

We have wonderful performances coming up from our Drama Club and high school chorus. Please join us in supporting our talented students! They put countless hours into preparing, and these events give them the opportunity to share their creativity and dedication with our community.

For our seniors, this is an important time to look ahead. If college is part of your plan, be sure to review application, scholarship, and financial aid deadlines. If you are still exploring your next steps, take a breath—you do not need to have every answer today. Keep asking questions, exploring opportunities, and connecting with our school counselors as you consider your future.

November also gives us an opportunity to reflect on all we have to be thankful for. I am especially grateful for our students, staff, and families, whose care and commitment make Central Mountain a welcoming place to learn and grow.

I wish you and your family a wonderful Thanksgiving break and a happy holiday. Thank you for being such an important part of our school community!

📧 Parents and Guardians: Help Your Student Stay Connected!

Please talk with your student about the importance of checking their school email and Schoology daily. Teachers and staff use these tools to share important information, updates, and reminders.

📅 Check the Schoology calendar for visits from college representatives and military branches during student lunches. These visits are a great opportunity for students to ask questions and explore options for their future!

💻 Online students: Please check your school email and Schoology regularly, too, so you stay connected and informed.

If you have questions about Schoology, please email Mrs. Germello at tgermello@kcsd.k12.pa.us. She will do her best to help or direct you to the appropriate person.

CMHS Student Services

A counselor is someone to talk to, who will listen without judgment. A school counselor can assist in short-term counseling and if needed arrange long-term counseling and the SAP (Student Assistance Program) and Tier II support. Counselors can teach students tools to improve and cope with different situations, especially because sometimes it's hard to figure out where to start. Students may be want to see a counselor for the following reasons:

  • Want to share an experience/feelings

  • Feel depressed and/or lonely
  • Have thoughts of self-harm
  • Feel stressed and/or anxious
  • Feel angry and/or frustrated
  • Want to improve grade(s)
  • Talk about college/careers
  • Relationship/peer issues/conflicts
  • Personal issues (divorce/separation, loss of a loved one, etc.)

To learn more or to schedule a meeting, please contact your student's school counselor.

ATTENDANCE MATTERS

We're so excited to have our schools filled with students and teachers where we can all grow and learn together!

There is so much awesomeness that can be achieved when we're present at school. If something is getting in the way of your student coming to school, please reach out to your student's teacher, school counselor, district social worker, or school nurse. We want to make sure that your student is receiving whatever supports necessary to help them be successful.

REMNDER: As we start a new school year, excuses need to be turned in within 3 days of an absence. Use your school's attendance email to make sure that the excuse notes get turned in on time.

Federal Programs Updates

All elementary schools within the district are Title I schoolwide schools and receive Title I federal funds to support the positions of Interventionist and Title I Associates. We determine how to use the funding to staff our buildings based on family input and our school data. If you are interested in becoming a part of our Title I team, please reach out to your building Interventionist or principal. Our Policy 917/918 meetings are a great place to start, because we always review our School Improvement plans and the most updated school data during those meetings.

At all school levels, we use Title IV federal funds to purchase incentives for PBIS (our positive school-wide behavior supports) rewards, and we emphasize the goal of following school rules in all schools.
