Week 12 Updates

THANK YOU MS. GALINDO & MS. VALENCIANA
A heartfelt thank you to Ms. Galindo and Ms. Valenciana for organizing the Empowering Our Community with Knowledge, Preparation, and Support event. It was a well-attended session that provided our families with valuable resources and information on immigration updates and guardianship, presented by Sandra Garcia with Illinois Works in Action.

📲 Stay Connected with TalkingPoints!
New Family Communication System!
As we’ve discussed since the beginning of the year, our school is transitioning away from REMIND and moving toward TalkingPoints as our primary communication platform with families.
Purpose:
This shift is about creating a more equitable, inclusive, and accessible communication system for all families. TalkingPoints allows automatic translation, easier two-way communication, and direct alignment with our Aspen data — ensuring every family can stay informed and connected.
Safe Space for Learning:
- We know this is new for everyone — including teachers! Over the next 1–2 weeks, we’ll be exploring and learning together. It’s okay to ask questions, make mistakes, and share what’s working (or not). This is a judgment-free zone for professional growth.
- Please be patient as we work through initial setup challenges and troubleshooting. During this learning period, we’ll continue to use email as our backup method of communication, and families are encouraged to do the same.
- Our collective goal is to ensure every student’s family is informed, supported, and heard — and this transition will help us get there.
- Below you’ll find directions (available in multiple languages) explaining how to sign up for TalkingPoints — the messaging system we use to communicate with families.
Important: TalkingPoints is automatically connected to the contact information we have in Aspen.
➡️ If you are not receiving messages, please make sure your phone number is correct by calling or emailing Ms. Jessica at jmoreno83@cps.edu.
Why download the app?
-
It’s free and gives you access to more features.
-
You can easily send and receive messages from your child’s teacher or school administration.
-
You can see translations instantly in your preferred language.
Don’t want the app?
No problem! You will still receive text messages from the school — just be sure your contact information in Aspen is up to date.
Checking Grades & Progress
Now is a great time to check in on how your child is doing academically. Make sure you have access to:
TalkingPoints – for two-way communication with staff
Parent Portal – to view grades and attendance
Teacher emails – to connect with educators directly
Benchmark Grades: 2nd, 5th, and 8th
These grade levels are especially important for end-of-year promotion decisions. If your child struggled during Quarter 1, now is the time to refocus and work toward improvement to avoid the risk of mandatory summer school.
Eagle Athletics
🏃♂️ Way to go, Eagle Runners! 🏃♂️
Big congratulations to our Regional Cross Country stars — Sebastian, Tyson, and Clark! You crushed it this season and finished with personal records in your final race! We’re so proud of your hard work and dedication! 💪💙❤️
🏀 Up next… Basketball Season!
Practices for grades 6–8 kick off after Fall Break — stay tuned for details and get ready to hit the court! 🦅🔥
Volunteer Process
To volunteer at Jungman, you need clearance, EVERY SCHOOL YEAR, from Chicago Public Schools! This requires a few steps!
- Login/Create an account online
- Bring your photo ID to the office or email it to Ms. Jessica at jmoreno83@cps.edu
- WATCH for an email from CPS that has a video you need to watch. When you complete the video, you download and send a copy of the certificate to volunteer@cps.edu
If you don't follow these steps, you will not be approved! This is not a Jungman policy, this is a District Policy!
