Parent Notice #2

7th grade students will have the opportunity to participate in an educational expedition as an enrichment to their social studies curriculum. Students who successfully complete the unit of study “In the Footsteps of Crazy Horse” and have no behavioral referrals between March 30 and May 12 (students notified with first communication on March 29) will be invited to join us on May 13 for a trip to Fort Kearny and the Fetterman Fight. Fort Kearny is located between Buffalo and Sheridan. This is an amazing trip and a chance to experience history in Wyoming.

Students will need a lunch and drinks for the day. Students can choose to bring a lunch from home or have the school make a sack lunch for them. A count for school made sack lunches will be taken during Social Studies Classes on Monday, May 4.

The buses will depart Worland Middle School at 7:30 A.M. on Wednesday, May 13. Students need to arrive and be ready to leave by 7:30 A.M. Letter going home May 4th

Dear Parents and Guardians,

The 8th grade will be taking a field trip to the George Dairy Farm near Cody, WY, on May 18, 2026. This will take place during the school day and we will return before the end of the day.

We will be on a working dairy farm, so students should dress appropriately. No sandals please. Your student will need to pack a sack lunch and water or they can request a sack lunch through the school.

This is a fun, exploratory field trip focused on Ag education. If your student has received a referral during the fourth quarter, they will be staying at the school and are not eligible to attend.

If your student has no desire to attend, they can come to school and sit in study hall.

Thanks,

8th grade team

8th Grade Honor's Night Reminders 8th Grade Honor's Night Reminders

Honors Night Information

  • The Honors Night Celebration is not a requirement. Attendance is a privilege. Students who do not comply with school rules, including on the day of Honor's Night, will be removed from the ceremony at the administrator's discretion.

  • Eligibility - We follow the sports eligibility protocol to attend the honors night. A student who receives two Ds or one F for the current semester's grades will not be eligible to participate in any honors night activity. If they are not eligible for honors night, they will be required to attend summer remediation courses before entering high school.

  • Ladies - attire that is not acceptable includes strapless dresses, backless dresses, dresses with slits on the side above the knee, and dresses that expose any cleavage or stomach area. Dresses with spaghetti straps are allowed. Ladies may also choose to wear nice slacks and a dress shirt. Due to the stage lighting, appropriate undergarments must be worn.

  • Gentleman - Appropriate attire includes a dress shirt (a shirt with a collar) and nice pants (slacks, khakis, black jeans). Ties are not required. T-shirts and blue jeans are not acceptable. We strongly discourage boys from purchasing or renting tuxedos.

  • Those students who do not come dressed appropriately will be asked to change into clothing that is more suitable for the occasion.

  • Questions about the dress code can be directed to Mrs. Richardson. If there is a question about the appropriateness of a dress, students are encouraged to bring a picture of the dress so that we can ensure it meets the dress code.

Honors Night: We still need lots of parent volunteers to bring food for after the dance. Parents willing to help out, please email Mrs. Richardson at arichardson@washakie1.com.

8th Grade Job Shadow Update 8th Grade Job Shadow Update

Please email Mrs. Crockett with questions.

Dear Parents/Guardians,

We are excited to share that our Job Shadow Day will take place on May 14th. This is a valuable opportunity for students to explore career interests and gain real-world experience.

Our students have been working hard to secure their placements by contacting local businesses and taking the initiative in planning their job shadow experience. We are proud of the responsibility they have shown throughout this process.

Students are responsible for:

  • Contacting their assigned business to confirm arrival time, lunch plans, and appropriate attire
  • Arriving at their job shadow location on time
  • Wearing proper attire suitable for their placement
  • Representing our school in a positive and professional manner

On the day of the event, students will return to school for lunch and host a lunch. Following lunch, they will spend time writing thank-you notes to express their appreciation.

Please remind your child to report back their confirmed details (arrival time, lunch count, and attire) so we can keep an accurate record of all student placements.

If your child needs assistance with transportation, please contact Mrs. Crockett.

Thank you for your support in making this a meaningful and successful experience for our students.
