Dear Winnetka Families,

Week 12 was full of fun, celebrations, and Wildcat Pride! This past week, we hosted our monthly Coffee with the Principal! If you were unable to attend, you can review the presentation and important information shared HERE. Please take special note of the slide inviting parents to indicate if they are interested in serving on our Campus Audit Committee.

We also had the opportunity to celebrate our Staff Members of the Year! A HUGE congratulations to our Teacher of the Year, Mr. Gomez! Another special congratulations to our Support Staff Member of the Year, Ms. Trevino! Both recognitions are incredibly well deserved, and we are so fortunate to have these two outstanding individuals serving our Winnetka community! (Read more about them in the section below.)

Last week, our Wildcats also participated in Red Ribbon Week and Fall Picture Day! Be sure to scroll through the newsletter for pictures highlighting our students' school spirit throughout the week! Also, If you haven't purchased your child's fall pictures, you can find the ordering link below. As a reminder, purchasing fall pictures also helps raise funds for our school!

🚨 An important campus safety reminder: If you are dropping off your child at 8:10 AM or later, a parent or guardian signature is REQUIRED. Please do not drop off your child and drive away. You must come inside the building to sign your child in. We are noticing unattended students are ringing the doorbell. Sometimes our staff can take a minute to answer the door and we want to ensure students are supervised at all times. Thank you for helping us maintain a safe and secure campus!

Looking ahead, Week 13 will be a four-day week! As a reminder, there will be NO SCHOOL on Tuesday, November 3, due to Election Day. Winnetka Elementary will serve as an official polling location, so you may notice vehicles and community members on campus. However, our school will be closed for students and staff.

We are excited to welcome November and all the opportunities it brings! This month, we look forward to fully launching our tutoring program to provide additional academic support for our scholars, as well as recognizing and celebrating Native American Heritage Month! We have so much to look forward to as we continue building excellence together! Let's give it up for Week 13!

With Wildcat Pride,
Principal Jove

⭐ Staff of the Year ⭐

A HUGE congratulations to our Teacher of the Year, Mr. Gomez! Mr. Gomez has dedicated nearly TWO DECADES to Winnetka Elementary! Not only is he an exceptional educator, but he also has a tremendous heart for students and colleagues. Whether he is coaching Destination Imagination or basketball, leading his grade level, or mentoring new teachers, Mr. Gomez consistently goes above and beyond. Thank you, Mr. Gomez, for continuing to share your expertise, leadership, and passion with our Wildcats!

Another special congratulations to our Support Staff Member of the Year, Ms. Trevino! Ms. Trevino is truly a pillar of our Winnetka community! From supporting AVANCE and Brighter Bites to coordinating volunteers, donations, and service hours, she plays an essential role in connecting our families with valuable resources. She also serves as a model for other Parent Support Specialists and is our region's reigning Parent Support Specialist of the Year! Both recognitions are incredibly well deserved, and we are so fortunate to have these two outstanding individuals serving our Winnetka community!
