A Message from Ms. Brown: A Message from Ms. Brown:

Dear Lamar Parents,

What a beautiful weekend! The weather is cooler, and all the fall festivals, etc. are in full swing. I hope you were able to get out and enjoy the fall weather and make memories with your families and friends. We are looking forward to another great week together. Please see the messages, flyers, and calendar below for some very important information. We look forward to seeing everyone in the morning!

Book Fair:

Our fall book fair takes place this week. The kids enjoyed the preview day this past Friday and are ready to shop. We will have the book fair open this Thursday, October 22nd from 5:30-7:00 p.m. Information about the book fair is below.

PTO Mixer:

PTO is holding a mixer on Thursday, October 22nd from 5:30-7:00 p.m. at Sawyer Park. They would love to have you join them. This event would give you an opportunity to get to know other PTO members and get involved.

50th Day of School:

We are almost 50 days into the school year. Can you believe it? We will celebrate our 50th Day of School on Friday, October 23rd. ALL Leopards are encouraged to dress up in their 50s fashion to celebrate the day. Yay!

Career Day Volunteers:

We are looking for any parents who would like to come and be a part of our Career Day on November 17th. You will share about your career choice, what you do, and the path you took to get there. Our Leopards are eager to hear about all the amazing opportunities they will have one day when they grow up. Come be a part of our Career Day!

School Start Times:

Just a reminder that our new start time went into effect this past Tuesday. Please make sure all of our Leopards arrive by 7:50 a.m. Our doors open at 7:15 a.m., and there is usually a steady flow of traffic, so you will not get caught in the last minute rush.

We Need Your Help Scanning Classroom Libraries:

ALL teachers' classroom libraries have to be inventoried due to the recent state law. We will need lots of volunteers to support this process. I have included a flyer below with the details and the sign-ups. Please consider signing up. Any help and time will be much appreciated.

Parent/Teacher Conferences:

Your teachers should be reaching out to schedule a fall conference. We will have a variety of times available for you to meet with your teachers. Please take advantage of this opportunity to visit with your child's teacher, so you can hear how your child is doing in class, etc. The teachers will also share your student's beginning of year MAP testing with you. These conferences provide valuable opportunities to partner with us to ensure your child has a successful year.

2nd Grade CogAt Testing:

Second Grade CogAT testing will take place October 27-29. This is a change from what was previously communicated. All second graders will go through the screening process, so nominations for students in second grade are not necessary. GT Nominations for 2nd grade will be discussed once CogAT scores have been received.

GT Nominations:

Parent nominations for Grades K, 1, 3, and 4 are open now through December 18th. Please see the flyer for more information.

Please take time to check out the information below. Let me know if you have any questions or need any clarification on the information shared in The Limelight.

Hugs,

Alison
