Walled Lake Northern senior earns Girl Scouts Gold Award ๐
Walled Lake Northern senior Delayna Jade saw firsthand how important food pantries were to her local community and made it her mission to make a difference. Jade created a Food for Faith garden to help grow fresh fruits and vegetables at the Central United Methodist Church Food Pantry and earned her Gold Award, which is the Girls Scouts highest honor.
โEarning my Gold Award means making a beneficial impact on our community and inspiring younger girls to believe they can achieve what they put their minds to,โ said Jade.
โSeeing the impacts of my garden on the community is extremely rewarding,โ said Jade. โI put years of time, effort and energy into this project, and to see it impact the lives around me reminds me of why I put in all the hard work.โ

Christine Ahern receives Betty Campion Award
Walled Lake Elementary principalโs secretary, Christine Ahern, has been selected as Walled Lake Consolidated Schoolsโ Betty Campion Distinguished Support Service Award winner for the 2025-26 school year.
Ahern was nominated by Walled Lake Elementary principal, Julie Amann, for creating a culture of belonging within the building and welcoming everyone with a kind word and open heart.
โWhether she is comforting a sick child, providing a calm space for a dysregulated student or offering a listening ear to a worried parent, Christine handles every interaction with grace and compassion,โ said Amann. โShe treats every student as she would treat one of her own.โ
Website Updates to Improve Accessibility and Menu Access
As part of our ongoing commitment to accessibility and inclusivity, we are making updates to our District and school websites to align with new required ADA compliance standards. These changes are designed to ensure that all members of our community can access important information in a clear, user-friendly manner.
This work is important because it helps remove barriers and ensures equal access to resources for every student, family, and community member.
As updates continue, some content may be reorganized or presented differently. If you are unable to find a resource you need or require information in an alternative format, please contact us at info@wlcsd.org
We are happy to assist and appreciate your patience and support as we make these improvements.
Walled Lake Athletes Committing to Play at the College Level
Year-end presents a great opportunity to celebrate our top senior student athletes and their opportunity to continue their athletic careers in college.
Please provide the following information on SENIOR athletes that have either:
- received a scholarship to play college athletics
- have a spot guaranteed to them on a college roster as a "preferred walk-on."
The information will be used by each school to plan their signing days and will also be printed in the LEARNING newsletter (if approved.)
Do you know a WLCSD staff member who deserves the chance for an extra $500?
Nominate them for an FFE "Super Star Staff" award! Each award costs $10 and includes a personalized certificate for the staff member (or members) of your choice and enters them into a drawing for one of two $500 prizes from the Walled Lake Schools Federal Credit Union. Two winners will be drawn on May 1st and will be surprised with their check during Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week.
Awardees can be teachers, parapros, administrators, bus drivers, custodians, etc.
Proceeds from this fundraiser support the Foundation For Excellence's mission to provide funds for classrooms for additional resources and tools.
