Hello GVS Families,
GVS Drone Club officially kicked off last week (October 15th). It was great to see returning and new faces.
Here are a few updates and reminders as we get the season underway.
Practice times this year are 3:30pm to 4:30pm. This does mean students can stay at the school when dismissal occurs for the school day. We are working on plans to gather up our drone club members and have them help us set up the equipment, so we can start right at 3:30pm.
We are planning to practice the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of each month. However, we are already bumping up into some conflicts.
For November, we will practice on November 12th and 19th. NO PRACTICE ON NOVEMBER 5th!
For December, we will practice on December 3rd and 17th. (normal 1st and 3rd Thursday)
Potential Competitions for this Season - please save these dates if you think your student is able to participate. I have registered two teams this year and we can have up to 5 students per team, so space is limited to 10 students for each competition. Competitions are an all day event usually starting from 8am and running until about 4pm. Students are NOT required to participate in competitions to be a member of Drone Club. They can simply choose to participate in our practices at GVS.
We may also have some opportunities to do some weekend scrimmages and practices with our Kearsarge neighbors. More to come on that!
Here is the list of planned competitions:
Saturday, Dec. 19 at Kearsarge Regional Middle School
Saturday, Jan. 9 at GVS - That's right we are going to hold our own regional competition this year at GVS!
Saturday, Jan. 30 at Springfield, Vermont (we could potentially share a bus with KRMS)
Saturday, March 13 at Springfield, Vermont
Saturday, April 3 at Kearsarge Regional Middle School
It is going to be a busy season!
At our first practice, we attempted to share the new drone fields that will be used in competitions this year. However, we had some technical difficulties. I let the students know I would share this video with parents and that maybe you could watch it with them.
Video:
This is going to be a great year 2! If you want to attend practices and help out, please let me know. We welcome all parent volunteers at every session. You don't need to know about Drones. It's all about learning side by side with the Drone Club members.
Thank you for your partnership and support.

A message from our Reading Specialist, Mrs. Buckley:
A message from our Math Interventionist, Mrs. Hutchins:
A message from our School Nurse, Mrs. Carey:
Our school uses SNAP Health Center, a secure electronic health record system that helps me keep your child’s health information organized and up to date.
Through the SNAP Parent Portal, parents and guardians can conveniently update their child’s medical information, including allergies and health conditions, upload required health forms, review available screening results, and communicate securely with the school nurse.
The portal also allows parents and guardians to provide permission for the school nurse to administer approved over-the-counter (OTC) medications, in accordance with school policy and applicable guidelines. Please take a moment to review and complete the necessary medication permissions so we can better support your child’s health needs during the school day. There are consents to sign off on (permission to treat and transport in case of emergency) and a section for you to give specific permission for over the counter medications, such as Tylenol and anti-itch cream. Please click the link below to learn more. https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1dzDqGvfMVS_j2T1sivaI9IMOR61WfZ-reswQdz6eY6o/edit?usp=sharing
Keeping your child’s health information current helps us provide appropriate care and support your child’s health and safety throughout the school day.
Thank you for partnering with us to keep our students healthy and ready to learn!
A message from our School Counselor, Mrs. Widmann
