New Policies concerning Multilingual Learners and addressing Student Cellphones and Devices under review
The Gwinnett County Board of Education encourages community engagement in the district’s policy review process. When a policy is placed “on the table,” it is open for public review for 30 days prior to formal Board action. This ensures transparency and gives families, staff, students, and community partners an opportunity to provide meaningful input.
Policies currently under consideration can be viewed at https://www.gcpsk12.org/about-us/board/board-policies. Two policies are currently under review: Policy JCDAF- Use of Electronic Devices by Students and Policy IDDG - Multilingual Learners.
We invite stakeholders to share feedback or questions about the policies under consideration by emailing myschoolboard@gcpsk12.org. Your partnership in policy review helps ensure that Board policies remain aligned to student needs, district priorities, and best practices in public education governance.

Safety and Security Updates
Stay healthy during flu season
The holidays are on their way, but the peak of flu season is between December and February. Protect yourself and your loved ones from respiratory illnesses and recognize the symptoms of viruses. Learn more about respiratory virus guidance online.
It's Georgia Winter Weather Preparedness Week
The National Weather Service is highlighting the threats of winter weather across the Southeast and Georgia. Bouts of extreme cold can bring life-threatening winter conditions, so it's important to remain prepared. Learn more about how GCPS keeps families informed when inclement weather happens.
Stay safe from holiday scams
When the holiday season begins, cyber fraud increases. Fraudsters are actively targeting shoppers with phishing scams, fake QR codes, and gift card fraud schemes. These tactics are designed to compromise your devices, steal financial information, and exploit your trust.
Family and Community Resources

Gwinnett County opens warming stations

How to Get Involved
Families + Schools = Safer Schools
School should always be a safe place for learning, friendships, and growth. As parents and guardians, you play a critical role in making sure your child understands what is appropriate — and what is not — when it comes to school behavior and safety.
You can email your School Board members, individually or as a group; or contact the Coordinator of Board Services at 678-301-6040 or by email at MySchoolBoard@gcpsk12.org.
The next regular Board meeting is December 18. Attend in person, view the livestream, or watch the recording on GCPS TV.
