Congratulations to our Fourth Graders!
Good Luck at BMMS!
Congratulations to the Class of 2025!!
Congratulations MAY Super Titans!!
Each month, our teachers will nominate a ‘Super Titan’ ~ Students who demonstrate on a daily basis throughout the month what it means to Be A Titan!! For the months of March, April and May, the Titan traits are ‘RESPECT’, ‘RESPONSIBLE’, and ‘SAFE’. Students were recognized, received a certificate and Titan decal, picked from the prize cart, and had their picture taken, which will appear in our Titan Hall of Fame. Students were able to pick from the prize cart and received a certificate and Super Titan decal.
Way to Go!! We are so proud of you!

2025/2026 Safety Patrol Info (IF YOU HAVEN'T ALREADY SIGNED UP)
ALL 3rd-grade students who haven't already signed up are still welcome to sign up for Safety Patrol. Students will start their service at the beginning of the 25/26 school year. There will be a safety patrol kickoff meeting at a date and time to be determined in August (but is usually during the staff work days leading up to school). Further, even if you miss the meeting in August, you can still sign up after school begins and be welcomed aboard. I can't thank the students enough for their interest in safety patrol, and Mr. Kruggel and I look forward to working with them all.
Here is the link to get signed up:

Be sure to stop in the office and check in first.
Check out this VIDEO and see if any items belong to YOU!!!
All lost and found items must be claimed by Wednesday, May 28th.
Fun Family Literacy
Dear Families,
Did you know that there is a great resource for Families from the Department of Education and Workforce- called Day BY Day Ohio? Check out these awesome Literacy activities for your family. Try it out Here!
Thank You!
A big thanks to the families who completed the Family Engagement Survey. There still is time to complete the Family Engagement Survey if you haven’t yet.
Remember, this will help teachers and staff better serve you and your family in the next school year.

Message from the Library
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Last Book Checkout Date: May 9
As we approach the end of the school year, please be informed that the last day for students to check out books from our library will be May 9. We kindly ask that all books be returned by May 16.
Payments for Lost or Damaged Books
If your child has lost or damaged a library book, payment is due before the last day of school. Payments can be made in cash at the school office or online through the Infinite Campus Fees portal. We appreciate your cooperation in ensuring all books are returned or accounted for.
Exploring Capstone Interactive eBooks
Recently, students in grades 2, 3, and 4 had the opportunity to learn about "Capstone Interactive eBooks." This resource provides access to over 1,500 nonfiction titles and 15 fiction books, with more than 100 available in Spanish. These high-quality eBooks can be a great way for students to continue their reading at home.
Accessing INFOhio Databases
Capstone and other databases are accessible on any device with internet connectivity. To explore these resources, visit:
Berea City Schools: Navigate to Grindstone > Library > Elementary Library Databases
OR
Elementary Grade Level Sites: Go to BCSD Media Center > Elementary Library Databases
We encourage you to explore these resources with your child and support their learning journey.

PARENT GUIDELINES FOR STUDENT DRESS
1. All clothing should be neat, clean, and safe.
2. Shorts are permitted on warm days only.
3. Coats are encouraged on cooler days and should be worn by students during outdoor recess.
4. The following clothing is not allowed:
● That which exposes too much or is too tight, including but not limited to tank tops, spaghetti strap tops, halter tops, cut-off T-shirts, bare midriffs, short shorts, and spandex (biking) pants or shorts.
● That which contains messages that are obscene, profane, drug-related, gang-related, or inflammatory or depicts weapons or violence.
● Sagging pants. 5. Parents are encouraged to send a change of clothes to be kept at school for their child.
Disclaimer: Any new “fads” in clothing, or anything not specifically covered in the above guidelines, determined to be inappropriate dress or disruptive to the learning environment, shall be dealt with at the discretion of the Berea City School District Elementary Schools’ Administration. Any student not adhering to the above will be referred to the office where parent contact will occur.
RECESS:
“When the temperature, including the wind chill, is 20 degrees or above, students will go out for recess and need to be dressed for the cold weather. The administration reserves the right to hold indoor recess based on the conditions of the playground/blacktop areas.”
Arrival Reminders:
The school day starts at 9:00 a.m. All car riders should wait in their cars until a Grindstone staff member either opens the door or signals them to exit the car. For student safety, all students should exit and enter their car curbside.
For all our Titan Friends who walk to school and arrive before the first bell, it is imperative for your child’s safety that they are waiting in line like a Super Titan; being respectful, responsible, and safe. Students should not arrive at school too early as there is no supervision before our first bell rings at 9:00 a.m.
Students coming for breakfast may enter the building through the cafeteria doors beginning at 8:45 a.m.
School Fees Past Due
School Fees have been added to student accounts. Payments may be made in person at Grindstone using Cash or Check or beginning September 9, 2024, through Infinite Campus. Instructions are provided below.
Families are asked and encouraged to complete the Income Eligibility Verification Application to access additional benefits, including increased state and federal funding for staff, equipment, and supplies; discounts on fees for academic assessments; and access to local scholarships, tuition assistance for dual credit and AP courses, and discounts on college application fees. By completing the application, you help the district continue to provide valuable resources and opportunities for every student.
Online Payments
Online payment is our preferred method for parents and guardians to pay for school fees, cafeteria payments, and more.
The Infinite Campus Online Payment system is a payment processing
solution that allows you to submit food service and school-related fees 24/7
via the Parent Portal. Payments can be made for one child or the entire
household.
The Fees tool provides a list of all fees assigned to you. Fees may include things like a lab fee for a science course, a fee for a field trip or the cost of an athletic activity. Fees that are still owed and fees that were paid appear in this list, followed by the ongoing balance for all fees.
If you are unable to use the online payment system, please contact the
treasurer's office at (216) 898-8300.
