Week of February 10th - February 14th Week of February 10th - February 14th

A NOTE FROM MS. SICKLER A NOTE FROM MS. SICKLER

Thank you for your continued support in your student's education. This week, you will be receiving scores from our winter reading and math Acadience screening, which consists of short tests focusing on different skills. The results of this screening are compared to classroom assessments and observations. We use these data sources to determine the focus of small group instruction and whether or not a student requires additional support. It's important to note that mastery involves not only knowing a skill but also being able to retrieve it quickly when needed. Students may demonstrate that they are beginning to learn concepts assessed on Acadience, but may score below benchmark on these timed measures. This could indicate that they need more practice and/or instruction to truly master and apply these skills accurately and efficiently across all settings.

HERE is more information on the Acadience measures. We appreciate your partnership in your student's learning!

Please note that Friday, February 14th is a half day (12:10 PM dismissal) for staff professional development. There is NO SCHOOL on Monday, February 17th in honor of Presidents Day. Enjoy the long weekend!

DID YOU KNOW? DID YOU KNOW?

Did you know that our Harvest Hornets get together for a community meeting about once a month? We start with a Harvest cheer (ask your students to sing it to you... it is VERY inspiring!) and then we do some learning together. On Friday's community meeting, we got to learn all about our Harvest Little VictorThon! Students learned about the "who", "what", and "why" of our event. They thought of ways to collect change at home and are excited for February 21st when we come back as a community to dance together and celebrate giving to a great cause!
