From the Desk of the Director of Fine Arts...

Hello All!

The 2026–27 school year is off to an EXCELLENT start! Across Lockhart ISD, our Fine Arts students and educators have jumped into the year with tremendous energy, creativity, and purpose. From classrooms and studios to stadiums, community events, and performance spaces, our Lions are already bringing this year’s theme—Envisioning Excellence: See it. Shape it. Share it.—to life.

Here are just a few highlights from an exciting opening to the school year:

  • Fine Arts has been out in our community! Our Roaring Lion Band, Color Guard, Lionettes, and other Fine Arts programs have already helped bring Lion pride and energy to football games, the Hippensteel Invitational, Homecoming festivities, and other district and community events. These opportunities allow our students to do more than perform—they represent their schools, connect with our community, and share their artistry with others.
  • The Clear Fork Fine Arts Academy is underway! This new opportunity for students in grades 3–5 expands access to creative experiences in music, visual art, dance, and theatre. The Clear Fork Percussion Club also kicked off its year by unboxing a brand-new drumline, generously funded through an Education Foundation for Lockhart ISD grant. It was an exciting start to what we hope will be a year filled with creativity, exploration, and artistic growth.
  • "The Fantastic Mr. Fox" LHS Theatre's annual children's show, was presented at the GOPAC from September 16th to 26th. During the run, over 3,000 Elementary and Middle School students attended and were exposed to the magic of theatre!

And we are just getting started! Throughout 2026–27, we will continue challenging our students to See what excellence can be, Shape it through intentional work and growth, and Share their creativity and accomplishments with our schools and community.

Please visit the Lockhart ISD Fine Arts website to learn more about our programs, events, goals, and initiatives. If you know a community member or Fine Arts supporter who does not currently receive this newsletter, please encourage them to join the Lockhart ISD Fine Arts Community Mailing List.

There is so much more to come, and I look forward to seeing you in our classrooms, at our performances and exhibitions, and throughout our community as we continue Envisioning Excellence together!

See it. Shape it. Share it.

Best,

JPC
