From the Desk of the Director of Fine Arts...
Hello All!
The 2026–27 school year is off to an EXCELLENT start! Across Lockhart ISD, our Fine Arts students and educators have jumped into the year with tremendous energy, creativity, and purpose. From classrooms and studios to stadiums, community events, and performance spaces, our Lions are already bringing this year’s theme—Envisioning Excellence: See it. Shape it. Share it.—to life.
Here are just a few highlights from an exciting opening to the school year:
- Fine Arts has been out in our community! Our Roaring Lion Band, Color Guard, Lionettes, and other Fine Arts programs have already helped bring Lion pride and energy to football games, the Hippensteel Invitational, Homecoming festivities, and other district and community events. These opportunities allow our students to do more than perform—they represent their schools, connect with our community, and share their artistry with others.
- The Clear Fork Fine Arts Academy is underway! This new opportunity for students in grades 3–5 expands access to creative experiences in music, visual art, dance, and theatre. The Clear Fork Percussion Club also kicked off its year by unboxing a brand-new drumline, generously funded through an Education Foundation for Lockhart ISD grant. It was an exciting start to what we hope will be a year filled with creativity, exploration, and artistic growth.
- "The Fantastic Mr. Fox" LHS Theatre's annual children's show, was presented at the GOPAC from September 16th to 26th. During the run, over 3,000 Elementary and Middle School students attended and were exposed to the magic of theatre!
And we are just getting started! Throughout 2026–27, we will continue challenging our students to See what excellence can be, Shape it through intentional work and growth, and Share their creativity and accomplishments with our schools and community.
Please visit the Lockhart ISD Fine Arts website to learn more about our programs, events, goals, and initiatives. If you know a community member or Fine Arts supporter who does not currently receive this newsletter, please encourage them to join the Lockhart ISD Fine Arts Community Mailing List.
There is so much more to come, and I look forward to seeing you in our classrooms, at our performances and exhibitions, and throughout our community as we continue Envisioning Excellence together!
See it. Shape it. Share it.
Best,
JPC

LHS Choir Honors September 11 Through Music and Remembrance
On Friday Morning, September 11th, the Lockhart High School Choir joined LHS AFJROTC in honoring the lives forever changed by the events of September 11, 2001. During the solemn ceremony, our Choir students delivered a moving performance of the National Anthem.
We are proud of our LHS Choir students and directors for using music to honor those who lost their lives, recognize the courage and service of first responders and everyday heroes, and ensure that the significance of September 11 continues to be remembered.
Fine Arts Brings the ROAR to Homecoming
The annual Lockhart ISD Homecoming Pep Rally on the Square brought Lion pride and plenty of Fine Arts energy to historic downtown Lockhart, TX! Our Varsity Lionettes, Varsity Choir, Roaring Lion Band, and Color Guard helped bring the celebration to life through outstanding performances, school spirit, and showmanship.
We are proud of our Fine Arts students and directors for sharing their talents with the Lockhart community and helping make this Homecoming tradition a memorable celebration!
LHS Theatre Is Absolutely FANTASTIC!
Lockhart High School Theatre brought Roald Dahl’s Fantastic Mr. Fox to life with humor, energy, and heart! From the performers on stage to the students working behind the scenes, our talented Lions showcased tremendous creativity, dedication, and teamwork.
The production ran for two weekends at the GOPAC and also exposed nearly 3,000 Elementary and Middle School students in Lockhart ISD to the magic of theatre during in school performances.
Congratulations to our students and Mr. and Mrs. Worthington for another fantastic production!
Celebrating National Arts in Education Week
Lockhart ISD celebrated National Arts in Education Week (September 13–19) by highlighting the creativity, talent, and imagination our students bring to life through the arts every day! Fine Arts plays an essential role in educating the whole child, providing students opportunities to create, perform, collaborate, and express themselves.
A huge THANK YOU to our outstanding Fine Arts educators for inspiring our Lions, nurturing their creativity, and providing world-class artistic experiences across our district!
Plum Creek Fine Arts Shines on the Square
On Saturday, September 12, Plum Creek Elementary Choir and Folklórico brought music, movement, and culture to historic Lockhart Square! Students in grades 2–5 shared traditional and modern Mexican music and dance, showcasing the hard work and preparation they began during the first weeks of school.
Congratulations to our talented Lions and their dedicated leaders—Mr. Galvan, Ms. Fernandez, Ms. Castillo, and Ms. Aguilar, with support from Ms. Vasquez and Ms. Longmire—for sharing their artistry with our community and inspiring a lifelong love of the arts!
Roaring Lion Band & Color Guard Dream Big at Capital City!
Congratulations to the Lockhart High School Roaring Lion Band & Color Guard on an outstanding performance at the Capital City Marching Festival on September 26th in Austin, earning 2nd Place Overall and Best Color Guard!
Our Lions brought Keeper of Dreams to life with tremendous musicianship, artistry, and precision. We are incredibly proud of our students and grateful to the directors, staff, volunteers, and families whose dedication and support make their success possible.
