Wildcat Families,

September is National Attendance Awareness month. We know that daily attendance matters for student achievement. This year's theme is Be Present, Be Powerful. We are including a spotlight on short term independent study for our families, to ensure our students are not missing out academically due to absences.

Short Term Independent Study

If you have an emergency or family vacation coming up, your student can go on a short term independent study contract. This agreement helps students to complete assignments and keep up with their missing work. The guidelines are as follows:

1. Short term independent study can be 1 to 15 days. You cannot use more than 15 days for the entire school year. Short term independent study contracts can be picked up in the main office.

2. Please try to give teachers at least one week's notice if you are going to be out. We understand that sometimes emergencies occur, but please do your best.

3. Fill out the form completely (this includes having each teacher fill out their portion) and bring it back to the front office. Students will be provided with a copy of the contract before leaving.

4. If your student receives special education services, a short meeting will need to be conducted prior to going out on independent study.

5. All work must be turned in upon return from short term independent study.

Planners are here!

Our school planners have arrived - finally! They will be handed out to students during first period on Monday. Please remind your student to use it daily to keep track of assignments, important dates and to stay organized. We hope this is a useful tool for school-home communication, in addition to all online platforms.

Celebrating Our Community’s Diversity Celebrating Our Community’s Diversity

The cities of Fairfield and Suisun City are two of the most diverse communities in California. To honor that diversity, each week FSUSD will be sharing information about the cultures that make up our extra special learning community.

September 17 is designated as Constitution Day and Citizenship Day to commemorate the signing of the U.S. Constitution in Philadelphia on September 17, 1787. Constitution Day is a federally recognized holiday. The law that established the holiday was made in 2004. Senator Robert Byrd passed an amendment to the Omnibus spending bill to enact the holiday.
