🌞Summer Edition 2026-2027
⚓A Message from the Principal
Setting Our Course for Success
Dear Clipper Families,
Welcome to the 2026-2027 school year!
I hope your summer has been filled with opportunities to relax, recharge, and spend quality time with family and friends. As we prepare to open our doors for another exciting school year, our faculty and staff have been working diligently behind the scenes to ensure Blair Middle School is ready to provide every student with an exceptional educational experience.
This year's theme, One Course. One Crew. Every Student. Every Day., reflects our commitment to working together toward one common goal: ensuring every student succeeds academically, socially, and emotionally.
At Blair, we believe success is built on strong relationships, high expectations, consistent routines, and meaningful learning experiences. Together with our families and community partners, we will continue creating a positive school culture where students are challenged, supported, and celebrated.
Thank you for entrusting us with your child each day. We look forward to welcoming our returning Clippers and greeting the newest members of our school family. Let's make this our best year yet!
With Clipper Pride,
Ms. Shenay A. Lewis
Principal
‼️Building Balanced Student Schedules
As we prepare for the new school year, our team is carefully developing student schedules with one goal in mind: meeting the needs of the whole child.
Creating schedules is a thoughtful process that considers multiple factors, including academic performance, individual learning needs, course requirements, teacher recommendations, intervention and enrichment opportunities, special education and English learner services, student supports, and the overall balance of each classroom. While end-of-year assessment scores are an important data point, they are not the sole factor used in determining course placement or scheduling decisions.
Our goal is to ensure every student is placed in an environment where they can be appropriately challenged, supported, and positioned for success.
We understand that schedules are important to both students and families, and we appreciate your patience as our team works diligently to build the best possible learning experience for every Clipper. We ask that you trust the process, knowing that each scheduling decision is made thoughtfully and with students' best interests at the center.

⏰ All Hands on Deck: Attendance & Arrival/Dismissal Guidelines
To keep our voyage steady, students should be on board by 8:15 AM and ready to set sail for the day. Dismissal begins at 2:45 PM. Our doors open at 8:00 AM. STUDENTS WILL NOT BE PERMITTED TO ENTER THE BUIDING BEFORE THEN. Please ensure your student is dressed appropriately for the weather. All students must pass through the weapons detector upon entry. Breakfast-bound students will enter by the cafeteria; all others head straight to class to begin the day’s journey.
Arrival & Dismissal Ports:
Arrival and dismissal brings heavy traffic seas, so please be patient. Families are encouraged to set clear pickup points away from busy Manteo Ave, and we kindly ask: do not drive on Spotswood during arrival or dismissal to keep our crew safe.
Walkers & Car Riders will disembark down the art/health hallway to Manteo
