Message from Superintendent Dr. Latrice N. Mumin
Greetings, CUSD Families!
Happy February and Black History Month! As we begin the month, CUSD is excited and proud to recognize Black History Month and honor the many noteworthy figures whose legacy and impact come not only from history books, but from our own community. In celebration of Black History Month, schools across the district are hosting special activities and events honoring Black history, culture, and excellence.
This week also marks National School Counseling Week, and we are proud to recognize and celebrate our counselors at every school for their dedication, commitment, and advocacy on behalf of our scholars. Their support and guidance play a critical role in helping students succeed academically, socially, and emotionally.
I would also like to acknowledge the recent cold weather and snowfall, which led to schedule changes related to weather and building conditions. Thank you to our families for your patience, flexibility, and continued partnership during this time.
As always, we encourage families to stay connected by visiting our website, following the district’s social media platforms, and tuning into Clipper TV for timely updates. Please also ensure your child’s school has your most up-to-date contact information.
I hope you enjoy this edition of Clipper Connection.
Upcoming School Schedule Changes
As a reminder, several upcoming days will impact the normal school schedule. Scholars will be off this week due to Parent/Teacher Conferences and a Professional Development Day for staff.
I hope to see families at conferences tomorrow. Parent-teacher conferences are one of the best opportunities to connect with your child's teacher(s) and discuss their academic progress, as well as support their success for the school year. Most schools will be holding conferences from 8:00 a.m. or 8:30 a.m. through 6:00 p.m., with a school-wide lunch break scheduled at a designated time.
For school-specific conference times or additional details, please get in touch with your child’s school main office. The full list of dates is included below.
