Dear LECC Families,

It was another busy and exciting week at LECC!

We had another successful fire drill this week, and our students and staff did a great job following our safety procedures. We also completed our hearing and vision screenings, and we appreciate everyone who helped make those run smoothly.

Our staff also had two great days of professional development last Monday and Friday. I continue to be thankful for the time our staff spends learning, collaborating, and finding new ways to support our students and help every child grow.

We have another fun and busy week ahead! Next week, our students will participate in bus evacuation drills so they know what to do in the event of an emergency while riding the bus.

On Monday, I will be getting pied in the face as one of our Walkathon fundraising rewards! Our students certainly earned this one with all of their incredible fundraising efforts.

Then, on Thursday night, Officer Moore and I will be sleeping on the roof of LECC after our school surpassed our Walkathon fundraising goal! We are so grateful for the tremendous support from our LECC families and community. I’m not sure Officer Moore and I fully thought through what an October night on the roof might feel like, but a promise is a promise!

Finally, we will wrap up the week on Friday with our October Terrific Tiger Assemblies! We are looking forward to celebrating another group of students who have done an outstanding job demonstrating our LECC core values of Care, Respect, and Responsibility.

It should be another great week at LECC. Thank you, as always, for your continued support of our students, staff, and school community. Go Tigers!

i-Ready and MyPath i-Ready and MyPath

i-Ready Inform & MyPath Information

This fall, students completed the first round of iReady Inform for the school year. Students will take this assessment 3 times per year—fall, winter, and spring. iReady Inform helps us better understand each student’s strengths and areas for growth. These results provide teachers with another valuable piece of data to help guide classroom instruction, identify areas where additional support may be needed, and monitor student growth over time. It is also one of the tools used to help identify students for gifted services in these areas.

We began using i-Ready a few years ago because it provides teachers with valuable instructional resources and allows us to better target instruction to meet the individual needs of our students.

An important part of i-Ready is each student’s individualized MyPath. Based on diagnostic results, MyPath provides students with personalized lessons and practice that are matched to their individual skill needs. Students will work in their MyPath for approximately 30 minutes each week in Reading and 30 minutes each week in Math. This individualized practice is designed to supplement the high-quality instruction students receive each day from their classroom teachers.

Throughout the year, teachers will monitor students’ progress, lesson performance, and growth. Our goal is not simply for students to complete minutes, but for them to continue building skills and demonstrating growth throughout the school year.

Individual student reports have been uploaded to the Overview tab in tigerparent.me along with Quarter 1 report cards.

To learn more about iReady Inform, you can watch a video overview HERE. You can also access the Student Report Overview HERE.

This is Sunny, LECC’s therapy dog. Sunny visits our school on Wednesdays.

Sunny is a certified therapy dog who began her training as a puppy in Loveland High School in 2022. She soon became LECC’s official therapy dog. This year will be her 4th year!

Therapy dogs provide emotional comfort, stress relief, and social support to students. In the classroom, they can help calm restless behaviors, improve attention spans for students, and increase connection and empathy. Sunny has a special love and patience for young children. We are excited to work with her and Lisa Sasson, her handler this year!

Counselor Message

School isn’t just a place to grow academically; it’s a place to grow as a young person. When children feel safe, supported, and connected to their school, they’re better equipped to succeed. Children need social-emotional skills to thrive both in the classroom and in life. Social-emotional learning (SEL) curricula teach children techniques to gain confidence, set goals, make better decisions, collaborate with others in work and play, and navigate the world more effectively. In Loveland, we use a SEL program called Second Step. Second Step provides a fully integrated framework for promoting the social, emotional, and academic success of early learners. Please don't hesitate to reach out to learn more or if you have any questions!

Attendance Changes for 2026-2027 Attendance Changes for 2026-2027

Attendance is important. Any time your child misses school, they miss out on the opportunity to learn. When they are absent, they can fall behind. The State of Ohio has changed the law regarding school attendance. With the change, if students miss too much classroom time - for any reason - they can be labeled “Chronically Absent.”

What To Expect:

  • If your student misses 3.5% of classroom time, which might be just a few days of school, you will receive a letter in the mail reminding you how important it is for them to attend school.

  • If your student misses 5% of classroom time, or about 60 hours of school, you may need to come in for a meeting while we develop an Absence Intervention Plan.

  • If the missed instructional time reaches 10%, truancy charges could be filed against your student. Their parents or guardians could also face charges for failing to send them to school.

What To Do:

It’s important to get your student to school every day. Keep your child home when they are sick, but let us know why they’re absent and when they might return. Plan vacations and other trips during school breaks - not during school time. Our calendars are available on our website at this link, so you can make plans.

If your child is dealing with a chronic illness or other ongoing issue, call or email the office so we can account for absences and support their learning. And if you are facing other challenges getting your child to school, let us know, so that we can work with you to find solutions.

We know that not every student will have perfect attendance, but being in school as much as possible is the best way for students to learn, and learning leads to lifelong success.
