Welcome to the 22-23 School Year

Orca Families,

It was wonderful to see so many of you during our Open House event earlier this week.

We are excited to welcome students on the first day of school, Tuesday, September 6th.

There is important information below regarding our bell schedule, arrival and dismissal procedures, school supply payments, and nutrition services.

As always, don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.

We look forward to partnering with you throughout the weeks ahead to ensure a positive, successful school year.

Warmly,

Lisa Brozovich, Principal

Alisha Maulding, Assistant Principal

Bell Schedule

Mondays:
  • 9:45am Arrival
  • 10:00am School Begins
  • 3:10pm Dismissal

Tuesday-Friday:

  • 8:10am Arrival
  • 8:25am School Begins
  • 3:10pm Dismissal

ARRIVAL:

If you plan to drive your student to school, please see the map below. Cars form two lines in the far lane and then merge into a single line. Students need to stay in the car - a staff member will open the door and greet you each morning. Encourage your child to have their coat and backpack on, and be ready to exit the vehicle as soon as a staff member opens the door. Students need to exit the vehicle on the passenger side.

All students travel on the outside of the building to their classroom. During the first week, several staff members will be available to walk students to their outside door. For safety, parents may not walk their child to the classroom. Staff supervision will be stationed around the building everyday.

Students who wish to purchase breakfast will drop off their items at the classroom first, and then walk to the cafeteria where they'll eat.

Safety is our top priority. Please be patient and drive slowly at all times. The drop-off procedure may take longer the first week, but we're sure it will become more efficient over time. Thank you for your help in keeping all students safe.

DISMISSAL:

Dismissal begins at 3:05pm daily. Please refrain from arriving prior to 2:50pm. We understand it can be challenging to predict traffic, but we ask you to try to arrive around your child's scheduled time:

  • 3:05pm Kindergarten, 1st Grade, 2nd Grade (and older siblings)

  • 3:15pm 3rd Grade, 4th Grade, and 5th Grade

See the map below for details on our dismissal route. When you reach Pod B, a staff member will open the car door to load your student. It is preferred for students to enter the car on the driver side.

Safety: Your child will be assigned a car number. Students will have their number on a backpack tag. Parents will display the corresponding number from their rearview mirror. It is important that you have this number displayed everyday, as we use a silent dismissal system.

Again, we thank you for your patience during the first few weeks of dismissal.

  • A selection of fresh fruits and vegetables, many of which are sourced locally
  • Entrees with healthy proteins and whole grains
  • Low-fat milk and 100-percent fruit juices

2022-23 School Meal Prices:

Regular Breakfast: $2.25

Regular Lunch: $3.50

Reduced Price: $0.00

*Due to state funding, students that qualify for reduced-price meal benefits will receive breakfast and lunch at no cost.

Free and Reduced-Price Meal Applications:

All families who may be eligible are encouraged to apply for free or reduced-price meals.

Applications must be resubmitted each year within the first 30 days of school. Qualified

students receive the benefit for the full school year, even if the family’s financial situation

changes.

Applications may be submitted online through Family Access. Start by selecting your student’s name, then Food Service, then click the Applications button, then Add Application. The system will walk you through the process and is very easy to use. Once Child Nutrition has processed the application, you will receive a notification letter by mail or email.

Printed applications are also available at each school and online at:

22-23 Application for Free or Reduced-Price Meals.

Meal Payments:

Since meal accounts have not been used for some time, we encourage families to check their

student account balances before school starts. Families can make online payments to student accounts anytime using Visa or Mastercard through Family Access. There are also options to receive email notices when student balances are low. A $0.75 per student transaction fee will be applied at checkout for payments. Cash or checks are accepted as a form of payment in the school cafeterias during breakfast or

lunch.
