This Week in DHS Band and Guard

Monday, April 15th

• Wind audition music will be passed out during class
• Percussion Ensemble Rehearsal, Veyager, 4:45-6 pm
• South Padre Island Chaperone Meeting, 5:45 pm, Auditorium
• South Padre Island Trip Meeting, 6:30 pm, Auditorium
• Band Booster Meeting (elections), 7 pm, Auditorium

• Percussion Ensemble Rehearsal, Starfall, 7:45-8:45 am
• Steel Band Rehearsal, 5-7 pm
  

We are having our trip meeting for all students attending the South Padre Island Trip on Monday, April 15th at 6:30 pm in the auditorium. A parent and the student attending the trip must be present at this meeting.

Students will be signing up for their bus seat on Monday. Seniors and Juniors will sign up before school and during the school day. Sophomores and Freshmen may sign up after school or before/after the trip meeting in the band hall.

The try out for winds and percussion are Friday from 4:45-6:45 pm. The jot form and google form are due on Tuesday, April 16th. Please note that color guard will do their try out during class the week of April 22nd.

We will be voting on next year's Band Booster Exec Board at our April Band Booster Meeting on April 15th at 7 pm in the DHS Auditorium.

Here are requirements to vote from our bylaws.

• Have a student currently enrolled and active in the program.
• Have paid Davenport Band Boosters membership dues. The yearly all-inclusive membership fee per family shall be determined by the Executive Board each year ($15). Each family will be eligible for up to two ballots if two parents or guardians are present. If only one parent or guardian is present, only one ballot will be issued.
• Have paid annual band obligations or paid to date on an approved payment plan.
• Adhere to CISD Code of Conduct.

All students who advanced to the UIL Texas State Solo and Ensemble Contest will be attending the contest on May 27th. More details to follow.

Band Banquet is May 11th at the New Braunfels Civic & Convention Center. More info can be found here.

Five $500 scholarships will be awarded at the Spring Concert on May 13th.

Please note that the deadline to turn the application items in to Mr. Keyes is Monday, May 1st. Transcripts can be downloaded and printed from skyward by clicking on the portfolio tile.

• Essay

Invoices for past due band and color guard fees were handed out to students in class last Tuesday. Obligations for past due fees will be turned in to the front office at Spring Break. Fees can be paid here. Please email Mr. Keyes at jeffrey.keyes@comalisd.org if you have any questions or concerns.
