Halloween Fun!
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Halloween is just around the corner! As students begin planning what they will wear or bring to school on Friday, we would like to share a few reminders to help ensure a safe, inclusive, and enjoyable celebration for everyone.
Please keep the following guidelines in mind:
- Full-face masks and/or scary makeup (e.g., blood and gore) are not permitted at school.
- Weapons of any kind, including toy or costume props, are not allowed.
- Costumes must be school-appropriate and respectful of all cultures, identities, and communities.
- We ask that inflatable costumes stay at home. While often creative and fun, inflatable costumes can be difficult for students to wear comfortably throughout the school day, particularly during activities such as using the washroom or participating in learning experiences. They can also create safety concerns and can be easily damaged, which sometimes resulting in hurt feelings or injuries.
Thank you for your support in helping us create a fun, safe, and respectful Halloween celebration for all students. We are excited to see the many creative costumes and look forward to our Kindergarten Halloween Parade, which will begin outside at 8:45 am on Friday.
Staff Parking Lot and Bus Loop Safety
To help ensure the safety of all students, we ask families not to use the staff parking lot for student drop-off or pick-up.
The staff parking lot serves as our designated bus loop, and we have recently noticed an increase in vehicles entering and stopping in this area. When cars block or delay access to the bus loop, it creates safety concerns and can impact the timely loading and unloading of students.
We appreciate your cooperation in using the designated parent drop-off and pick-up areas and avoiding the staff parking lot during arrival and dismissal times. By working together, we can help maintain a safe and efficient environment for all students, staff, and families.
Thank you for your support and understanding.
Family Movie Night Success
Thank you to everyone who joined us for our recent Family Movie Night! It was wonderful to see a full house in the gym and so many families coming together to enjoy an evening of community, connection, and fun.
One of the highlights of the evening was watching our students demonstrate such kindness and responsibility. We were impressed to see students helping serve snacks to one another and pitching in with the clean-up at the end of the event. These small acts of service and teamwork are wonderful examples of the caring school community we strive to build.
Of course, we can't forget about the stuffies that stayed overnight! It appears they had quite an adventure of their own. Be sure to check out the photos below for a glimpse into some of the fun they had while spending the night at school.
Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the evening such a success. We look forward to seeing you at future family events!
Photo Retake Day
A reminder to families that Photo Retake Day will take place on Tuesday, October 27.
This opportunity is available for students who were absent on the original picture day, as well as for students who would like their photo retaken. If your child is planning to have a retake, please ensure they bring the photo proof package that was sent home earlier this month.
If you have any questions, please contact the school office. We look forward to helping every student get a photo they are proud of! πΈπ
Looking for Volunteers
Our PAC plays an important role in making many wonderful opportunities possible for our students. From Hot Lunch and the Book Fair to school events, equipment, learning resources, and support for field studies, the time and energy contributed by our parent community has a significant impact on our school.
To make these programs and events possible, we need your help! There are a variety of ways to volunteer throughout the year, whether you can help regularly or only for a specific event. Our PAC is currently especially looking for support with the Hot Lunch Program, including volunteers who may be available on Mondays and every other Friday from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm.
Please take a look at the attached PAC information and volunteer sign-up sheet to learn more about the many ways you can get involved. If you are able to lend a hand, even a small amount of your time can make a big difference!
Reporting Student Absences
If your child will be absent or late, please remember to report their absence using SchoolMessenger. Families can report absences online clicking the image below or by downloading the SchoolMessenger app to their mobile device.
Using SchoolMessenger helps us keep our attendance information accurate and ensures we know that your child is safe and accounted for.
