Dear Oak Ridge Families,
The nice weather has allowed students the opportunity to enjoy some outdoor learning experiences this week. The Early Childhood Center enjoyed a visit from the North Cape Fire Station. Thank you John Taylor, Jimmy Foggerst, and Zack Robinson for taking time to teach our kiddos about fire safety!
On Thursday, Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade visited Beggs Farm for a great outdoor learning experience. Thank you Mrs. Seyer for all your hard work putting this together for our kids. Mrs. Seyer even chased a pig! Click the picture below to access a library of the photos taken on the Beggs Farm trip.
Mrs. Hahs' 4th grade students enjoyed learning about sedimentary rocks by experimenting with the layers in a snickers candy bar. Her students also invited me to participate in their Klassen time. This is a time when students put on fuzzy socks, sip hot chocolate from mugs, eat a snack and discuss classroom issues and reflect on how we can be better people and make our world a better place. This is an excellent opportunity for students to connect with each other. I challenged the students to look in the mirror over the weekend and say one positive thing about themselves.
Students have been bringing in storybook pumpkins where students have decorated a pumpkin to look like their favorite storybook character. We have some interesting pumkins! I look forward to seeing all of them when they are finished.
October 26th is the Halloween parade and 1st quarter celebration. Parents, please join us at 2:00 PM in the old gym as we kick of the celebration with a costume parade. Classroom party treats can be dropped off at the office the day before or the morning of October 26th. Treats need to be prepackaged.
Please feel free to reach out if you have questions, need help with school supplies, or need resources to help students be successful at school.
Enjoy the nice weather and weekend with your family!
Sincerely,
Sonia Wood
