A. Montoya Monthly Newsletter
March 2026
Note from Administration
Dear Families,
Thank you to all of our amazing volunteers who made our Little Italy Family Dance such a huge success! We are so grateful for the time, energy, and love you poured into the event. Thank you as well to all the families who came out to enjoy delicious Italian food, dance, and play together. It was wonderful to see so many smiling faces on such a beautiful Friday night. Events like these truly remind us how special our school community is!
π Parent-Teacher Conferences
Parent-teacher conferences will take place on March 26 and March 27. Teachers will be sending out sign-up information soon. As we are about three-quarters of the way through the 2025β2026 school year, this is a great opportunity to come in and see what your student has been working on and celebrate their growth. We look forward to connecting with you!
πΈ Spring Break
Spring Break will be March 30 through April 3. We hope your family enjoys a restful and fun-filled week together!
π§₯ Changing Weather Reminder
Spring weather is already here, with cool mornings and warm afternoons. Please remind your student to take their sweaters and jackets with them when leaving the playground. Our lost and found is already filling up!
π Morning Drop-Off Reminder
School drop-off begins at 7:45 a.m. We do not have staff on duty prior to that time. For safety reasons, students must remain in their cars until 7:45 a.m. Thank you for helping us keep all students safe and supervised.
π Registration for 2026β2027
Registration for the 2026β2027 school year is already underway! Please register your student(s) as soon as possible. Early registration helps us plan staffing and resources to best support our students. We would also love for you to spread the word to friends and family who may be interested in joining our amazing school community.

Campus Visits and Volunteering
- All visitors must check in at the Administration entrance and wear a visible badge.
- A photo ID is required to access the school or to check out a student.
- Only cleared volunteers (with prior teacher/admin permission and updated background checks) may stay on campus to volunteer.
- Volunteer info: https://www.aps.edu/police/background-and-fingerprinting/background-checks-for-prospective-volunteers
- All items must be dropped off at the front office. Office staff will deliver them to the appropriate classroom. For minimal disruption, families are not permitted to deliver items directly. If preferred, the office can call the student out of class to retrieve the item upon request.
Parking Lot Safety and Procedures
- Adult supervision is required for students crossing both of the crosswalks
- At the end of the day, students must stand near the sidewalk in front of the tree and watch for their vehicle
- Students must enter and exit the vehicle from the curb side only. If your student is seated behind the driver's side please use the left lane.
- Parents and guardians are reminded to remain in their vehicles to help keep traffic moving.
- If you are in the right line please follow the lane all the way around, under the awning, as we need to keep the parking lot safe for all.
- Please see the attached picture as a reminder of the drop-off/pick-up procedures
Nurse's Office
Spring is just around the corner! While weβre all looking forward to warmer days and outdoor recess, March often brings a mix of "lion-like" weather and the peak of allergy season.
Spring Allergies vs. Colds
It can be tricky to tell the difference between seasonal allergies and a common cold.
Symptoms Cold/Virus vs. Allergies
Fever Common/Never
Itchy Eyes Rare/ Very Common
Mucus Often thick/yellow/ Usually clear/watery
Duration 7β10 days/ Lasts as long as the allergen is present
Counselor's Corner
Dear A. Montoya Families,
During the month of March, I will be visiting 5th grade classrooms. Students will be learning about peer pressure, including how to identify their personal values, set healthy boundaries, and practice ways to say no in challenging situations.
We will also have a lesson on vaping. Students will learn about the harmful ingredients found in e-cigarettes and discuss smart, confident ways to say no.
Please be sure to check your childβs backpack for handouts and take time to talk about these topics together at home. These conversations help reinforce the important skills students are learning at school.
Thank you for your continued support!
