Hi! I am thrilled to begin my sixth year at Lido Elementary School, and even more excited to be joining the third-grade team this year! For the past five years, I’ve had the incredible privilege of teaching second grade and becoming part of the wonderful Long Beach community.
My time at Lido has taught me so much—not just about curriculum and classroom management, but about what truly works for children. I’ve learned how to keep a room full of curious minds engaged and excited to learn, and I’ve come to understand what it really means to never stop learning—as a teacher and as a person. Each class has given me new insights and helped me grow as an educator, and I’m so grateful to the students who have made space for my growth, just as I’ve supported theirs.
One of my core teaching philosophies is holding high expectations. I believe that every child is capable of greatness when they work hard, believe in themselves, and are encouraged to strive for their best. I constantly remind my students that their most important job is to be the best version of themselves—by taking on challenges, making mistakes, and growing every day.
With that in mind, I’m eager to bring this mindset and my experience into our third-grade classroom. I’m looking forward to building on what the children already know and helping them take their next big leap forward. I can’t wait to partner with you to make this a fantastic year!

Ms. Balzano - AIS Math Teacher
Hi! I have been a dedicated educator for 26 years, with most of my experience rooted in teaching fifth grade. Outside the classroom, I cherish time spent with my family—my husband and our three children, Jake, Samantha, and Ryan. I'm excited to step into this new role with enthusiasm and a continued love for learning. Math has always been a passion of mine, and I’m thrilled for the opportunity to focus on teaching it throughout the day.
Ms. Szymendera - 3rd Grade
Hello! My name is Allie Szymendera, and I am so excited to join the Lido community! I am originally from Buffalo, NY, and will be moving to Long Beach this summer. I earned my undergraduate degree in Early Childhood and Childhood Education from SUNY Cortland, and am currently working toward my master’s degree in Literacy. I have worked in third grade all year long in Buffalo, and I’m beyond thrilled to continue teaching this grade level here at Lido! I am enthusiastic, creative, and truly love what I do! I can’t wait to meet everyone and get started on a wonderful school year together!
