Halloween Costume Reminders
As we prepare for Halloween, we remind families to choose costumes that are respectful of all cultures, backgrounds, and identities. Costume weapon props (including toy guns, swords, and knives) must remain at home.
Thank you for helping us ensure a safe, welcoming, and fun celebration for everyone. We look forward to a Spooktacular day!
Halloween Costume Parade
It's almost time for our little ghouls and goblins to walk the halls in their spooky Halloween costumes!
Please help us keep things safe and fun for all students when preparing your child's costume. Here are our guidelines:
- masks will only be worn during the parade but will stay in the locker for regular class time
- please ensure masks are not too scary/grotesque for our youngest students
- please leave weapons at home
On Thursday, October 29, our Kindergarten Group A class will tour the school and show off their costumes as they celebrate Halloween at school.
On Friday, October 30 at 1:15 p.m. our Halloween celebrations will continue with a snake parade. Students will wander throughout the school picking up other classes along the way. Families are welcome to line our hallways to watch the snake parade. Following the parade, students will return to their classrooms to participate in a variety of Halloween themed activities.

Spirit Day: Decades Day
Wednesday, November 4! 🕺🎶
Get ready to travel back in time! On Wednesday, November 4, we're celebrating Decades Day! Students and staff are invited to dress in styles inspired by their favourite decade—from the groovy '60s and disco '70s to the colourful '80s, cool '90s, and beyond!
Dig into your closets, get creative, and join us for a fun-filled spirit day celebrating fashion through the decades. Participation is optional, and there's no need to purchase anything new!
Remembrance Day Service: November 5
Event Information
We encourage students to wear their uniforms if they belong to a cadet organization or a scout group. Another option is students can wear the colour red or Canadian attire if they wish. Poppies for Peace will be distributed to students on the morning of November 5. Donations for the poppies will be accepted on behalf of the Royal Canadian Legion.

📱 Digital Safety: Helping Kids Stay Safe Online
As children spend more time on digital devices and social media, it's important for families to stay connected to what they're doing online. Regular conversations, device checks, and clear expectations can help children make safe and responsible choices.
A few helpful tips for families:
Check devices regularly: Take time to look through your child's messages, apps, photos, contacts, and online activity. Know who they're communicating with.
Keep conversations open: Talk regularly about online friendships, privacy, and what to do if something makes them uncomfortable.
Set clear expectations: Establish family rules around screen time, appropriate content, respectful communication, and device use.
Review privacy settings: Keep accounts private, limit location sharing, and use parental controls when appropriate.
Know the age restrictions: Many social media platforms require users to be at least 13 years old. Consider whether your child is ready for social media.
Talk about online kindness: Remind children that messages, photos, and comments can be saved, shared, and have lasting impacts on others.
Consider device-free nights: Have children charge devices in a common area overnight to encourage healthy sleep habits.
If your child encounters unkind, threatening, or inappropriate messages online, encourage them to tell you, avoid responding, and save screenshots when appropriate. Take time to talk through what happened and help them decide on next steps, including blocking or reporting accounts when necessary. Regular check-ins at home can make a big difference in keeping children safe and helping them build healthy online habits.
