THE BEAR ESSENTIALS
2025/2026 Back to School Issue
Dear Bear Families,
We would like to take the opportunity to officially welcome all of our Bear Families to the 2025-26 school year at Roosevelt High School. We are so excited to welcome our students back into the building for an empowering year of learning.
This newsletter contains all of the information that our families need for the upcoming school year. You will find the dates, times, and details for all beginning of the year events. In order to be most effiicient with our communication to each other, it is extremely important that each family updates the student contact information within Parent Connection. Details and directions on how to do this are below.
We want to offer a special greeting to our new families at RHS this year. The Bear Essentials newsletter is our weekly communication to our students and parents. This newsletter will be in your email inbox by dinnertime each Friday, once the school year begins. While we will occasionally send out other communications, we will make an effort to make this your one weekly email. Checking this newsletter out each weekend is the best way to stay in the loop as to what is going on at RHS. We email this newsletter to students as well, and hope you can encourage your student to check their inbox too.
We are looking forward to seeing our students back in the building later this month, and we hope to meet our Bear families at Back to School night on September 3. Enjoy your last few weeks of summer!
Go Bears!
Mr. Reynolds, Mr. Hickey, Mrs. Bukosky, Mr. Petrick, and Mr. Schley

Attendance Matters
We are excited to welcome our RHS students to a new school year filled with opportunities to learn and engage!
Getting into the habit of daily attendance is more important than ever. It helps to:
● Reduce stress
● Make it easier to connect with friends and teachers
● Support learning
We are continually working to make our school environment a place where everyone can be safe, healthy and learning. We will do our best to listen and partner with you so that our children have a successful year. Do not hesitate to reach out to us with questions or concerns.
Please make sure we have your correct email and the best phone numbers where we can reach you.
Pest Management Program
As a part of the Wyandotte School District's Integrated Pest Management Program,
pesticides are occasionally applied. You have the right to be informed, prior to any pesticide
application made to the school grounds and buildings. In certain emergencies, pesticides may be
applied without prior notice, but you will be provided notice following any such application.
Health Plans
In preparation for a safe and healthy 2025/26 school year, please update health information for your child online in the MiStar Parent Portal. If your child has a medical condition that requires care during the school day, a Health Plan and/or Medication Authorization Form must be turned in prior to the first day of school, to give ample time for staff training and awareness.
