Dear Torringford Families,

"Love is showing you care with your words and actions." – Unknown

February is a special time to celebrate kindness, friendship, and learning together. Whether it’s sharing a smile, helping a friend, or working hard in class, small acts of love make Torringford School a wonderful place to be. This month, we’ll continue to grow, learn, and show kindness in all that we do. We see love in the way our students support one another, in the dedication of our teachers and staff, and in the strong partnership we share with our families.

Today (February 10th), marked our 100th Day of School! It’s incredible to reflect on how much our students have learned and accomplished so far this year. We hope you are as proud of their progress as we are! The Torringford staff remain focused and committed to providing all students with engaging and meaningful learning experiences. Thank you for your efforts in ensuring your child comes to school ready to learn each day—your support truly makes a difference!

As we continue through the school year, we look forward to working hand in hand with you to provide the best possible educational experience for your child. Spring Conferences will be held on March 24th, 25th, and 26th, offering an important opportunity for parents and teachers to connect. Thank you for being a part of our Torringford family—we love seeing our students shine every day!

In partnership,

Mrs. Galullo (Principal) & Mrs. Austin (Assistant Principal)

We are writing nonfiction informational books about technology to go along with our Benchmark unit! Students learned to brainstorm and how to use a graphic organizer to support their writing.

Students love using the e-pocket chart to build and read words during our Foundations lessons.

Students showed wonderful growth on their mid-year DIBELS literacy assessments and celebrated with stuffed animals!

Students have been learning about the engineering process during science and have been continuing to explore these steps independently and cooperatively through their play.

In Science, we have been working on becoming engineers! We are building trash collectors to get the trash out of Danny the Duck’s pond.

We explored the different material choices and discussed which ones would be best to help us get trash out of the pond without removing too much water.

We made and tested out different trash collectors to determine what shape tool could pick up the most “trash”.

We also tested how each potential material reacted to water so we could figure out which ones were capable of standing up against the pond water.

Finally, we created and improved our trash collectors so that we could clear all the trash out of our model ponds.

🎵We are engineers. We are engineers. We can solve problems. We are engineers. Ask, imagine, plan. Then we create. Improve to make it better. Engineers are great!🎵

We filled up our behavior chart and earned a Glow-in-the-Dark dance party!

Students work together to use vertical thinking boards to compare and contrast two texts about Thomas Edison!

Students build upon their comprehension in small reading groups, learning about underwater technologies and the importance of text features in a non fiction text.

Students gather information to write opinion essays on whether or not video games are good for kids! Ask your student what their opinion is, you might be surprised by their claim and reasons.
