Low Ash Primary
Weekly round up
2.10.26
We continue to be incredibly proud of the way our children have settled into the new school year. Visitors regularly comment on the positive attitudes, excellent manners and enthusiasm for learning that they see around school. Thank you for your ongoing support in helping us uphold the high expectations that make Low Ash such a positive place to learn.

Attendance Update - Every Day Counts
Attendance remains one of the biggest factors in helping children achieve their full potential. Every lesson matters, and even occasional days away from school can quickly add up over the course of a year. Thank you to the many families who work hard to ensure children arrive on time and are in school every day possible. If you are experiencing any difficulties that may be affecting your child's attendance, please contact school so that we can work together to provide support. Consistent attendance helps children build confidence, maintain friendships and make the most of every learning opportunity.
Well done all the children who had 100% attendance this week.
This week's attendance - 96.5% - we're back above the 96% mark which is brilliant!
This year's attendance so far - 96.2%
Reception & KS1 classes of the week were 2R and 2W both with 98.7% attendance!
KS2 class of the week is, once again, 5B with 99% attendance!
Your child's attendance is now shown on the new version of Marvellous Me for Year 1 to Year 6 children. Please note that a session is a half day so, if it says your child has been absent for 4 sessions, this is 2 full days.
Autumn Health Reminder
As we move further into autumn, we are beginning to see the usual increase in coughs, colds and seasonal illnesses. Most children can continue to attend school with minor coughs and colds if they feel well enough to take part in learning. Thank you for helping us to keep our school community healthy by encouraging good handwashing habits and informing the office promptly if your child is absent.
Wrap around care booking update
Some good news following feedback - we have been able to alter the booking system to allow parents and carers to book right up until the start of breakfast club or after school care.
If you no longer need a session you will also be able to cancel this too before the session starts.
This gives you greater flexibility. Please remember to make sure your child is booked on using the system so we know to expect them.
If you are struggling with booking, please contact the office and we will try and help.
Academisation Consultation
A reminder that, from Wednesday 11th November, we will begin a formal consultation with parents regarding the proposed academisation of Low Ash Primary School. As part of this process, we will be holding two information sessions for parents and carers on 11th November, at 9.15am and 2.00pm, led by Duncan Jacques, CEO of Exceed Academies Trust, and Ruth Jarvis, COO of Exceed Academies Trust. These sessions will provide an opportunity to learn more about the proposal, ask questions and share your views.
If you would like to know more about the Trust, you can visit their website here Exceed Academies Trust - Home
Year 5 Bikeability
Last week, it was Year 6 but this week, Year 5 took to their bikes in Bikeability and have made fantastic progress. A number of children started to ride a bike for the very first time. Other children developed their skills and are ready for the Level 2 road sessions which we are aiming to take place in Year 6.
Year 6 visitor
Year 6 were extremely lucky to welcome Mr McKniff into class this week, who shared his great, great uncle's diaries from WW2. For example, he was able to read the diary entry for September 1st 1939, the day which Germany invaded Poland. This was so engaging for the children, as it really brought the topic to life.
Reading Matters
A huge thank you to all of the families who continue to support reading at home. Reading regularly remains one of the most effective ways to improve vocabulary, comprehension, writing and confidence across the curriculum. Just ten minutes of reading each day can make a significant difference over time. Please continue to listen to your child read, talk about books together and celebrate their achievements as readers.
Sport
On Thursday, Low Ash Primary’s under 11s Girls went up against a strong Blakehill primary team.
We had lots of girls playing their first ever competitive football match. They showed lots of grit, determination and the most important thing, had lots of fun.
Well done girls!
Playtime donation requests!
To enhance our playtime provision even further, we are looking for donations of a few key items that Low Ash children love to use in their imaginative and creative play. If you have any unwanted pushchairs (real ones rather than toy versions), office wheely chairs, dressing-up clothes, or even clean adult clothes, shoes, hats, bags or accessories that are no longer needed, we would be delighted to give them a new home. These resources provide fantastic opportunities for children to develop their creativity, communication, collaboration and problem-solving skills during playtimes. Any donations would be gratefully received. If you have anything of use, please either bring it to the playground at school drop off and leave it with Mr. Singh or drop it off at the school office. Thank you for your support.
