Redmen Daycare: A Day to Learn and Grow
Students in Mrs. Lehrke's Human Development class took a day off from being SHS students to become employees at the Redmen Infant PIES (physical, intellectual, emotional, & social development) Daycare. Throughout the day, students cared for "infants" including feeding, changing, napping, and rocking the babies. They also had the opportunity to make phone calls to staff members pretending to be parents to discuss problems that might arise at a daycare including running out of diapers, injuries, or sickness.
Excellent childcare, problem-solving, teamwork, and good communication were all emphasized throughout the day, and students came away with a better understanding of how to provide care in a daycare setting.

FFA Wins Big at District Competition
Monday was a long but good day for members of the Sisseton FFA chapter. Competitors in the Fall Leadership Development Events (LDE) traveled to Doland with advisor Courtney Schaefer to try to earn a trip to the state competition in Rapid City in December.
The Ag Marketing team of Cody, Jackson and Akyre received first place, and Wylder took first place in Creed Speaking, while the Ag Sales team of Justin, Beth, Hank, and Jack took home second place. The senior experience Parlimentary Procedure team received third place and Beth was also named the District I secretary.
Congrats to all the participants, and best of luck at State!
Personal Finance Fun
Even though Hayden and LJ wanted to trade in thier 2002 MiniVan, salesman Tucker and manager Cash woudn't give them what they thought their car was worth. It took a few tries, but LJ finally got his van started and they were off to talk to another dealership in Personal Finance class.
Negotiating skills and purchasing a vehicle were important real-world topics for these upperclassmen this week!
