A Note From the Principal

Wowza! December is upon us!! We are Dashing Thru December for sure! Students are enjoying the extra days of fun we have built into our month. Thank you for helping keep things a secret for us! It's fun for us to reveal each day's special something!

I wanted to take this time to thank our families for making time to come in for conferences and allowing us the opportunity to share your child's learning progress with you. It's always nice to reconnect in person with parents and partner with you in the educational process.

We look forward to a great month of learning and some solid holiday fun as we close out 2022 and look ahead to 2023!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Holtz

5th Grade Band Winter Concert & Band Updates

If you have a student in band, please mark your calendars for Tuesday, Dec. 20th at 6:00 pm. Students will showcase their hard work for you in a winter concert. The concert will be held at the HS Auditorium.

Additionally, some students have expressed an interest in joining band second semester. If your child would like to join band in January email Ms. Hand (ehand@solon.k12.ia.us) so we can get an instrument for them prior to winter break.

Winter Reminders

As the weather continues to drop and we prepare for the potential of snow, please keep the following in mind:

  • Recess is held outdoors as long as the real feel is 10° or higher.
  • Students can ALWAYS use encouragement to wear their coats, gloves, and hats outside.
  • It's a good idea to write your child's name in his/her personal belongings.
  • When snow begins to fall, students will need boots and snow pants to go off of the concrete during recess.
