The Boston Bruins Foundation along with special guests visit winning schools with an assembly plus a donation towards health and wellness education. Ten winners will receive a $10,000 donation and the best entry will receive a $100,000 grand prize!

Please send your child to school with layers of clothing. The weather is getting cooler during outdoor recess, though the building itself can remain warm. Now is a great time to pack a hat and gloves in your child’s backpack to keep available throughout the fall and winter, as we aim to hold recess outside whenever possible.
Feel free to send lip balm/chapstick for your student to keep in their desk—please label it with their initials. In addition, remember to send your child with a refillable water bottle every day. Encouraging hydration helps prevent chapped lips and dry skin as the weather changes.
Postural Screening, FIFTH grade only
Next up! Postural screening is scheduled for the beginning of November. Postural screening is a state mandated school screening done annually in grades 5-9 to detect curvatures of the spine. Students will be examined individually without their shirt on in a confidential space, similar to the way they are screened annually at the pediatrician’s office. If you prefer to have your child opt out of this screening, please send an email to Julie Stiles, school nurse at: jstiles@mpsd.org before November 5, 2026.
