Industry Spotlight - Sarah's Home Loans
Sarah Grebenick, owner of Sarah’s Home Loans and Washington Square’s newest Industry Partner, exemplifies the school’s “FutureForward” mindset: equipping students to navigate and thrive in a rapidly changing world. Driven by that mission, 14 years of industry experience, and a service-focused approach, she partnered with Washington Square because “learning about jobs and industry before setting out into the world is so important. It’s so much easier than experiencing everything through a trial by fire.”
Washington Square is simply the latest venue for her educational outreach, building on years of workshops for first-time homebuyers. Working directly with buyers exposed critical gaps in financial literacy—and the real-world obstacles those gaps create. While Sarah routinely helped clients build budgets, repair credit, and set financial goals, the experience sparked a bigger question: What if she could help people avoid these mistakes in the first place?
As Sarah pondered that question, Sasha Fernquist, Washington Square’s Real Estate instructor, was also looking for partners to help launch her new high school program. Sarah jumped at the opportunity to partner on the ground floor, offering industry guidance with the curriculum and her own services as a guest teacher to help pull back the curtain on the loan process. Crucially, she was adamant that the course include fundamental money skills to prepare students for their future—whether as homeowners, landlords, developers, or simply better managers of their personal finances.
“The curriculum,” she insisted, “would be incomplete if students knew how to sell houses, but were never prepared to be homeowners themselves.”
As the real estate course gets underway, Sarah's hands-on involvement sets a powerful benchmark for community partnership at Washington Square. It serves as a reminder that when local industry leaders step into the classroom, the entire community reaps the rewards.
New Faces in the Building
Tracy Brown - Counseling Secretary
Tracy was born in Ely, Minnesota, before making the move to California with her future husband, Tom. They eventually settled in Colorado, where they raised their two children: a son, Hayden, and a daughter, Chandler. Rounding out her household is her dog, Reggie, an adorable Cockapoo.
A true cornerstone of the local educational community, Tracy is celebrating her 20th year working within the Adams 12 district. Her career includes five years in the front office at Thornton Elementary School followed by 14 impactful years serving as the Media Tech in the Mountain Range High School library.
Tracy thrives on creative outlets that allow her to unwind and express herself. In her personal time, you can find her gardening, reading, crafting, and sewing. She is also a passionate cook whose signature dish is a delicious green chile chicken lasagna.

Halloween Guildelines
As we approach October, please review the 2026 Halloween guidelines. We are excited for students to celebrate, and also want to maintain a respectful, safe, and secure learning environment.
Winter Attendance Concerns
Cold Weather is coming! Prepare for the cold days, give yourself more time when making it to school, be careful of icy roads and sidewalks, and pull out those winter coats.
If the district determines that due to inclement weather we will operate on a 1-hour delayed start, FutureForward at Washington Square will have school, and will operate on a 1-hour delayed schedule. Buses will also be on a delayed bus schedule. Please check the bus schedule link for more detail.
If your student will be missing class, please communicate with Washington Square and their home high school. Our attendance guidelines are posted here.
