Happy Friday Craddock Families!

I am sitting in my office in a very quiet school. While these are great days to get caught up on the ever-growing "To Do" lists, I miss the sounds and smiles of the staff and our adorable 1st and 2nd graders! I hope everyone is enjoying an extra long weekend as we head into May and the homestretch of the 25-26 school year!

I am so incredibly excited to celebrate our staff all week long during our annual "Staff Appreciation Week!" I cannot even begin to describe all they are, all they do and just how much they LOVE and ADORE your children. It shows in every single thing each of them does and I am lucky enough to get to see it every day! I am so grateful to our PTO for organizing some meaningful and celebratory events this week in honor of all of them. Check out the calendar below detailing their activities. I will be adding in some extra goodies throughout the week as well! I can't wait!

We had fun on Thursday celebrating "National School Lunch Hero Day!" Mrs. Daff, Mrs. Duffy, Ms. Robyn and Ms. Connie play such vital roles in ensuring all of our students have a nutritious, peaceful and happy lunch. They come in each day with a smile on their face and each of them are always there to help the kids navigate lunchtime. We are so grateful for each of them!

Finally, to round out the short 4-day week, our students have continued to crush the pom-earning game and our school-wide pom bucket has been filled for the NINTH time this year! That is truly incredible and a testament to just how fabulous they are demonstrating our three school-wide expectations across all learning environments. We will count the votes for their preferred way to celebrate Tuesday afternoon!

Please make sure to keep a close eye on all that is included in our Weekly Update. This time of year there is a lot coming at all of us quickly! I do my best to include all you need to know to be successful! Have a wonderful weekend with your family! We look forward to seeing the kids and our staff on Monday!

Take care,

An Update from School Counselor, Mrs. Schnur

Hello Craddock Families!

The countdown to the end of the year is upon us. I cannot believe summer break is this close-I don’t know where the time has gone! These past couple of weeks your student participated in a classroom guidance lesson about perseverance. Perseverance is a skill that students will need all throughout their life, not just in school! Your student learned about some skills they can use when they feel like they want to give up and quit. If you’re interested in continuing the conversation at home I have linked an article below. In May your student will be receiving a classroom guidance lesson about careers and career exploration. It is never too early to talk about the future and what things your student finds interesting!

Perseverance at Home

I continue to be present in the building for all students and help students problem solve in all settings. I just completed a friendship skills group and I will be facilitating a changing families group within the next couple of weeks. This group is meant for students who have had a change in their family due to parent separation, someone moving or something else that has impacted a student’s family unit. If you are interested in your child participating in this group or want more information please do not hesitate to reach out to me! I also continue to offer PBIS re-teach sessions for any students who might benefit from repeat instruction in any of these areas!

I just recently found out about a free online program through the state of Ohio called “The Triple P-Positive Parenting Program”. This is a great resource to check out if you’re looking for some guidance on how to support your child's development and well-being! I have linked the website below!

Learn More about The Triple P!

As needs arise for your family please reach out to me and I can connect you with the right resources. If you have any questions or concerns about your child and would like me to meet with them please reach out to me and I will be happy to support you and your student.

Thank you for all you do to support your child’s social emotional development at home!

PBIS highlights this month:

Your student is working on the following skills. You can use this same language at home to help your child be successful at school and at home.

Take Care,

Claudia Schnur

Looking for Career Lesson Volunteers!

I am going to be teaching a lesson about careers the first couple weeks of May and would love for students to hear from people right here in our community!

I am looking for some volunteers to share a fun/interesting aspect of their job in a short video clip (30-60 seconds) that I will share with each class. Any and all careers are welcome! It is our intent to expose our students to as many careers as possible!

If you are willing to share please send me an email at cschnur@aurora-schools.org with the following information by May 1st:

Your name

Your occupation

30 second video clip with a fun or interesting fact about your career

Give Your Feedback Below for Your Child's Placement for 2026-2027 Give Your Feedback Below for Your Child's Placement for 2026-2027

INCOMING FIRST GRADE (currently in K) and INCOMING SECOND GRADE (currently in 1st) Student Placement Feedback for the 26-27 School Year

As we begin the process of wrapping up the current school year, we can't help but begin to think about next year. Part of that process is the formulation of class placements. Class placements are constructed in a very particular manner, using data and input from the educational experts at Miller, Craddock and Leighton. We take many factors into consideration when making these decisions and feel it is very important that your input is utilized as well. You know your child best!

Although I cannot guarantee specific teacher requests will be granted due to a number of different factors, it is important to have as much information about each child as possible before the class list-making process gets underway. We recognize that parents/guardians are a valuable source of information to add to our knowledge about what works best for each child. Your information will be very helpful as we determine your child's placement for the 26-27 school year.

If you are interested in having some input, please fill out the following information and submit this form by Friday, May 8, 2026. Any feedback received after that date may not be able to be considered. You are also welcome to call or set up an appointment to speak with me specifically about your thoughts and concerns. I can be reached by email at kmstewart@aurora-schools.org or by phone at 330-562-3175. Thank you!

INCOMING THIRD GRADE (currently in 2nd) Student Placement Feedback for the 26-27 School Year

As our 2nd-grade students prepare for their exciting transition to Leighton Elementary School next year, we are seeking your input to assist with the placement process.

Parental feedback is a vital component, helping our students transition to a new building. Please note that while we take all feedback into consideration, this form is not a platform for requesting specific teachers, and submissions do not guarantee specific placement outcomes. Thank you for your collaboration!

Sincerely,

Spencer Warders, Principal

Transportation Information from Mrs Wingler 🚌

All students schedules are currently available through the MyBus K-12 App. How to access the App is located on the ACSD website under Departments/Transportation on the right side of the webpage. I have included the link below.

If any student is needing to be picked up or dropped off other than their home location, they MUST fill out an alternate bus stop form before we can transport and return to us by email, fax or dropping off at the office. That form is located in the same area as listed below on the webpage and is also included below.

Please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns. My email is cwingler@aurora-schools.org.

The Aurora Schools Foundation is excited to share that construction is officially underway on the Leighton Amphitheater renovation, marking an exciting step toward a revitalized space for students and the community.

With completion expected in Fall 2026, this multi-stage project is made possible thanks to the generous support of community partners, including Rotary Club of Aurora, AEPTO, Aurora City School District, V Financial Partners, and JJ’s Beautification Service, LLC.

Stay tuned for updates as progress continues!
