A Message From Mrs. Carmody A Message From Mrs. Carmody

Hello, Fremont Families!

Happy Friday! I hope you can all join us tomorrow, Saturday, October 17, for our PTO Trunk or Treat event. It is a highlight of the fall season, and our PTO has worked hard to make it a fun event for our students. Bring your Halloween spirit and come ready for some festive trick-or-treating in the school parking lot!

Looking ahead, we are excited to celebrate Spirit Week starting Friday, October 23. Dressing up and participating in theme days is a wonderful way to build community and show our school pride. Please review the schedule down below so your child can prepare their outfits.

The Power of Boundaries

As parents, setting limits and saying "no" can sometimes feel exhausting, especially when met with pushback. However, consistent boundaries are one of the most effective ways to help children feel secure. Children naturally push against limits to test where the lines exist. When those boundaries hold firm, it signals to them that the adults in their lives are in control and capable of keeping them safe. It also relieves them from the pressure of figuring how to put up boundaries on their own. Clear, predictable rules, whether around bedtime, screen time, or behavioral expectations, reduce anxiety and allow kids to focus on growing, learning, and playing.

Thank you for your continued partnership and support. Enjoy the weekend!

Warmly,

Beth Carmody

Principal

Family Literacy Tips: Talk, Ask, Expand! Family Literacy Tips: Talk, Ask, Expand!

FSD79 continues to partner with national literacy leader, The Reading League, on Science of Reading practices. Strong oral language skills are the foundation for reading and writing success. Here are some quick tips to help boost literacy at home:

  • Talk: Narrate daily routines for younger kids; discuss music, books, or shows with older children.

  • Ask: Ask open-ended questions like "What happens next?" "What would you do?" or “Why...?”

  • Expand: Repeat and add words for young kids, or challenge older children with alternative viewpoints and sophisticated vocabulary.

Everyday conversations build confident readers and writers!

Need an Interpreter for Parent-Teacher Conferences? Need an Interpreter for Parent-Teacher Conferences?

If you or your family require translation support during conferences, please let us know! Fill out our Parent-Teacher Conference Translation Request Form by November 2 so our Student Services department can schedule an interpreter for you.

Connected and Confident Connected and Confident

Our classroom communities are in full swing! Predictable morning and sleep routines build confidence and ensure students feel secure in their physical and emotional space each day.

  • Instructional Days: Please reserve family travel for district breaks. Missing consecutive days can create learning gaps and cause unnecessary stress.

  • Health Check: Children must remain home until they are symptom/fever-free for 24 hours without medication.

We are always better together when every student is present to share in our classroom growth!

The My Ride K-12 mobile app allows parents and guardians to stay connected with their student’s transportation schedule. Through the use of GPS technology, the app provides updates to the pick-up and drop-off times based on the bus location.

To learn how to download the app, create your account, and link your student’s information, please visit our Transportation webpage.

Student Pick-Up/Drop Off Student Pick-Up/Drop Off

Unless your child is a regularly scheduled pickup, you must email or call our building receptionist
Aura Perez Cruces at aperezcruces@fsd79.org or 847-837-0437 no later than 2:45 p.m.
*On Wednesdays, you must let us know by 2:15 p.m.

A friendly reminder about our drop-off and pick-up line ...

  • Please stay in your car when dropping off or picking up your student(s).
  • Please do not park in the parking lot and send your student(s) to the school. Stay in the drop-off line.
  • Please pull all the way forward in line when dropping off and picking up. Students exit the car on the sidewalk only.
  • If you arrive at school after 8:55 a.m., you must come into the school to sign your student in. Doors close at 8:55 a.m.
  • We have observed that parents often leave approximately 3–4 feet between their vehicles. Please close those gaps, when safe to do so, so more vehicles can move through the line, reduce congestion on Fremont Center Road, and help buses reach their assigned spots more promptly.
  • Please refer to our Pick-up and Drop-off Procedures for our specific guidelines.
