😊 Esperamos que hayan disfrutado sus vacaciones. 😊
Dr. Allen's Message 💭
Happy New Year PME Families! I hope you had a joyful holiday season. As we continue in our winter season, I wanted to provide a few reminders. In addition, please monitor for communications from the district.
Cold Windy Weather (Winter)
- Layering: Layering is key to staying warm and adjusting as needed. Start with moisture-wicking base layers to keep sweat off the skin. Add insulating layers (fleece or down) and finish with a waterproof or windproof outer layer.
- Winter Coat: A thick, insulated, and waterproof winter coat is important. Look for features like adjustable hoods and cuffs to keep out wind and snow.
- Warm Hats and Gloves: Beanies, knit caps, or fleece-lined hats will keep heads warm. Gloves or mittens should be insulated and waterproof to keep hands dry and warm.
- Scarves: A scarf or neck gaiter helps prevent heat loss around the neck area.
- Snow Pants or Overalls: For very cold conditions, thick pants are important to prevent children from getting wet and cold during outdoor play.
- Boots/Closed toed shoes: waterproof boots are essential for rain and icy weather. Boots with good traction will help prevent slips and falls.
- Windproof Layers: Wind can make cold weather feel even harsher, so outer layers should include windproof materials to block gusts.
- Hats with Brims or Hoods: Wind can also make it uncomfortable for students to see, so hats with brims or hoods can help shield the face.
- Tight-fitting Gloves: Loose gloves can get blown off in strong winds, so fitted gloves (especially those with elastic or Velcro closures) are preferable.
Lost and Found
We wanted to send a quick reminder to all families about our Lost and Found collection. As the weather changes and students shed layers, jackets, hats, gloves, and other personal items often get misplaced. If your child has been missing anything recently, please take a moment to check the Lost and Found area. The collection is located on the stage in the cafeteria.
Tips for Easy Retrieval:
- Labeling items: If your child's clothing or items are labeled, it makes it much easier to return them to the rightful owner.
- Regular Checks: Encourage your child to check the Lost and Found area during the school day if they are missing anything.
Thank you for helping us keep track of your child’s belongings. We hope to reunite them with their lost items soon!
Attendance Matters 📆
Let's be sure to get our scholars to school on time. School begins at 7:30 a.m. Student must be in the classroom with their teacher at this time. Section 25.085 of the Texas Education Code (TEC) states that a child who is required to attend school under this section shall attend school each school day for the entire period the program of instruction is provided, unless exempted by law. If scholars are absent, you have to send a letter or email to Mrs. Margarita Gonzalez, margarita.gonzalez@manorisd.net for documentation of your child's absence.

How to Store a Gun Safely
Texas law now requires school districts to distribute information to parents and guardians about the safe storage of firearms. The attached information will help you learn about options for, as well as how to talk to your child and others about, the safe storage of firearms.
It is unlawful to store, transport, or abandon an unsecured firearm in a place where children are likely to be and can obtain access to the firearm. Under Texas Penal Code 46.13, a person commits the offense of making a firearm accessible to a child if the child gains access to a readily dischargeable firearm, and the person with criminal negligence:
- Failed to secure the firearm; or
- Left the firearm in a place to which the person knew or should have known the child would gain access
The penalty for allowing a child access to a firearm can range from a Class C misdemeanor (punishable by a $500 fine) to a Class A misdemeanor (punishable by a $4000 fine, a year in jail, or a combination of the two).
Texas exempts the purchase of firearm safety equipment from Texas Sales and Use Tax.
Remember, a gun should be stored unloaded in a safe or locked container, with ammunition stored elsewhere. You can learn more and find additional resources from the Texas Department of Public Safety by clicking button below (Keep'em Safe Texas).
